Your instructions are not good. I set it up and proceeded to follow the instructions as listed, and I got stuck over and over. I have spent many many hours trying to get through the instructions, but I always get stuck - even after many hours - many days of trying and trying. I hate to give up, but I have lost too many night's sleep trying to get through the instructions to no avail. I have a few thousand slides that mean a lot to me, and I really want to get them into my computer, but this thing doesn't work.
Since writing the above I find that now after connecting the USB the little red light only comes on for a few seconds then turns off, so then nothing works. Now what do I do?

My old slide and negative converter to PC would not work with my Windows 7. I researched several websites and their was not solution for upgrading this product with drivers or downloads. So, I ordered this model. It is very easy to use with either slides or negatives. It also has a multiple slide stacker which helps if you have a lot of slides. On other reviewer stated that if you have the older cardboard slides that are square as opposed to 35mm. Part of the slide is cut off and that is true. Depending on what's one the edges of the picture, you may gave to try and remove the slide from the cardboard mount. But, for the price, I have to give this a thumbs up !

This product includes:
- ION Photo Converter;
- Special tools:
* for slides;
* for Negatives;
* semi-automating for slides (i think, that only for slides in cardboard, because slides in plastik are thiker);
- CD with program and instructions;
- USB cable;
- Instructions.
I used this ION Converter to transfer photos from old negative (1940, 1970-80 years) and old slides. The result depends on the quality of the negatives. So, the 36 HR film has better quality, than 72 HR film.
This product includes:

Make sure you plan on only using this item for a couple of years. I bought an ion at the end of its life cycle. purchased it when vista was booming. then when windows 7 came out it no longer was good to use. I actually never used it yet and when i finally had time and needed to use it. it didnt work on my newer computer. I contacted customer support. told them its still in the box and plastic but the software wont install correctly. they told me sorry but tough. 90 warranty. mine isnt broke. with windows changing to a different format every year it means unless the company of products like the ion need to update their plug ins and keep the product usuable longer. No they are only worried about the almighty buck. we can sell more if we dont update it. I for one will not buy another ion product.

For a person who wants to get some extra milage from what could be some family heirlooms; photo archives perhaps available nowhere else, this is a great product for anyone on a budget.
A few things to keep in mind.
1. Old scratchy slides make for old scratchy digital reproductions.
2. Keep the lens clean, dust motes will be detected
3. Don't panic, the resolution on the scanned results proved to be much better than the preview images.
4. A program that processes digital images can enhance the results greatly
If you are looking for 'professional' results spend the money and take your slides to a professional. For the home hobbist and family archiever this will do nicely.
