I usually use the 15 ounce cans but bought this for a larger crowd. The chokes seemed noticeably to have a tougher outermost leaf. I figure this is a seasonal or harvesting problem where the choke is smaller than they expected, so left the outer leaf on to be more economical to the packer (use a little less to fill the can when the chokes are left larger). Next purchase might be fine. Does make you pause before you buy a second large can, though.

Great product, I love this brand of artichoke (and pesto!). One of my cans arrived with a huge dent in it, though. No damage to the seal of the can and no leakage.

High drained weight, firm artichoke hearts, good flavor. I make homemade Caesar to marinate them, do a quick kitchen pickle or toss them in pasta or scaloppine, really good as hors d'oeuvre, beside sandwich. Strong buy!
