You'll fall in love with it. The leather was made in Mexico yeah, but Mexico has one of the best leather making skills! You can smell that cowhide and it's awesome. The knife itself is wow. You can really tell the first time you handle it, it is different. Would recommend to anyone who loves a good knife

I've used these knives in the past and I finally decided to get myself one as a self pat on the back for getting accepted to Marine OCS. It's a great knife. The only thing to keep in mind is that it isn't a full tang knife, so it shouldn't be used for heavy chopping or batoning. As far as a utility/combat knife, it's a time tested and very effective design with a rich history.

what more can be said. you get exactly what you expect from kabar. knife was not as sharp as i like out of the box so after moderate use i sharpened with the Lansky. kabar can get a razor sharp edge and hold it.

I purchased this knife to use as a utility knife in a camper and it's that and more. Genuine KaBar, sharp enough to shave the hair off the back of my hand, and a quality leather sheath. The USMC stamp and embossing is a plus.
My first KaBar got lost when I was wounded in Viet Nam so I purchased a model 1209 at a USMC PX in 1970 to replace it. Still have it and have used it for 47 years, but wanted something to leave in the camper so it will always be there. Lots of other brands, but KaBar has my vote.
The new full size model with a 7" blade is larger than the 1209 and has the classic stacked leather handle and pinned butt cap. Edge angle is a flat 20 degrees for a good utility knife. Treated the sheath with Neatsfoot oil and it got darker and more pliant, but still very sturdy with stitching and rivets. Both knifes will probably last longer than I will.
Highly recommend.

If you've done your research on KABARs, this knife will meet and exceed your expectations. It honestly deserves six stars, for the finish, weight, balance, sharpness, appearance and probably fact that it will outlive me as a quality knife. The sheath on the other hand didn't have a uniform coloring, but that's not a huge issue.
