Better than expected.

Got the fly rod today. New to fly fishing but have fished for many years with spinning reels. Quality seems great in both reel and pole. Fly case comes filled with 9 flies all of which appear well made. Carry case is also very nice and high quality. My order was missing the cable retractor and I emailed wild water. Had a response in 20 minutes asking for my address to send it. Between the fly kit and the unbeatable customer service I would not hesitate to order more products from this company and will quickly recommend to any friends interested in fly fishing. If your new to fly fishing and on the fence about which kit to get you started, order this one now. You wont regret it.

This is a great starter (and intermediate) kit. I bought a few starter kits and this is by far the very best. I bought this as I was just getting into fly fishing and it has been great. After 2 years of very heavy use, the rod has held up very well. The reel has lost some tension and there is a slight chip in the spool, but I definitely got what I paid for and a lot more! Also, I broke the rod tip (which will eventually happen to you) and they were amazing about sending me a replacement for just $13! If you're getting into fly fishing and considering a package like this, go head and buy it with confidence.

I've taken this rod on several fishing trips with my boys, rod and reel work great and the case keeps it safe with the gear in the back of the truck. The included flies have caught a number of rainbow trout and a couple golden trout - they're classic 'go to' patterns that work. Of course I've added more flies to the box as well. All told, I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a starter kit. I would add a net too right off the bat if you're fishing trout - they flop around more than most other fish and a net is gentler on the little ones you'll release.

I bought this kit to test the waters, so to speak, on fly fishing not knowing whether I would like it or not.....all I can say is is im hooked, literally. The rod and reel combo are very good quality, much better than I expected. I fish the Susquehanna river multiple times per week spin fishing for smallmouth, but haven't even picked up those rods because im enjoying fly fishing so much with this setup. I purchased 1x leaders d/t the fish I am targeting. If anyone knows anything about Susquehanna smallmouth is that they are very strong, aggressive fighting fish. I caught a 15" which is about average for this time of year (summer) but in heavy current feels like a 5-6lb bass and this rod/reel handled it no problem. I caught some bluegill and small smallmouth with the flies provided but purchased larger flies to target larger fish. I feel very confident that this rod will hold up to these smallies no problem. I can't wait for fall to see what it's like catching a 4lb smallie!
