My girlfriend really wanted to learn to fish. I gave away all my gear 20 years ago to my nephews so needed new gear. Ordered 2 of these poles. One had a hoop that was broken off, so I returned it and got another. The two I kept are really good considering the price. Used them several times for trout and bass and even once with too big of weights for catfish. Reels work well, though the plastic chrome on all 3 are a bit bubbly. The line it comes with isn't great but it works. The lures even are decent starter kit.
Only complaint - the little cap on the bottom doesn't stay snug. I lost one already.

good rod and reel for travel or just to keep in car for when the occasion arises. has some good quality accessories included such as a couple of lures and a carrying bag. only downside of the bag is that you have to remove the reel from rod for storage.

Great little rod/reel with all the needed accessories. Travels well in the back seat of my truck just in case a drive a great fishing spot on my way to somewhere else. Only downside is there is no inventory sheet or set - up instructions in the kit. Fortunately, YouTube has a couple of great videos.

I got this as a gift for a friend who loves to fish and travels a lot. She tells me it's wonderful, and she is completely thrilled. She even likens it to a fine musical instrument, almost as delightful to look at as to use. Well, she hasn't been out fishing yet, but she thinks it's absolutely great.
As other reviewers have stated, the pole is reasonably flexible and the reel works smoothly. Everything is quick and easy to assemble, and the carry-case is a real plus, since it keeps the bits together. You can forget it in the trunk of your car and it won't get mangled when you put groceries on top of it. Depending on where you fish, the starter set of hooks, lures and hardware may or may not get you out the door, but it's a reasonable start, with something for almost everybody. You'll probably want to change out some of those little things to emphasize the kind of fishing you'll be doing, but there's enough space in the kit to set yourself up for a peaceful break on the water in the midst of an ordinary day. (But don't forget to throw in a knife, unless you're planning to take it in the passenger compartment of a plane.)
