We ordered this fishing set for our three year old daughter who is obsessed with PJ Masks and, for some reason, with Catboy! It was ideal as color scheme and as you'd see in her reaction when she got to inbox it she loved all the different assortment of Baits and lures and bells and whistles (there's definitely fishing bells in the box) that came with it. At first we thought the length would be too big for a three year old but she actually loves the fact that it is a telescopic rod and collapses to this tiny storage size that fits perfectly in the carrying case. There's also a rod top tip guard provided which is really helpful especially with small kids. The spincasting reel seems okay, but if I had to do it again I'd probably order the conventional spinning reel, I know it is easier for her to learn how to operate the spincaster but long-term I'd like her to learn how to use a Spinning and then later hopefully a casting reel. The media could not be loaded. This Rod and Reel combo is ideal for camping and hiking trips where you want to do a little fishing. It travels well and comes in a nice pack. I recommend this combo for kids ages 6-10 as the rod handle is a bit large for anyone younger. The combo is ideal for fishing with live bait and bobbers. I would not recommend it for fishing artificial baits and lures as the reels gear ratio is very low and would take a lot of work to reel in baits.

Came in a great lightweight carrying case. has internal pockets and straps for the rod and small tackle box that it comes with. The rod itself has a very nice rubber grip, and a protective cap on the eyelets. Easy to set up and break it back down. Can even be put away with the lure on the line. Rod is made of a lightweight carbon fiber and from what I can see, most of the action is mid-end rod. It may be safe to say it has medium action, which is great for that beginner fisherman. The only thing I would recommend, is that it came with a waterproof card or booklet on how to tie various knots for kids who are just beginning. Overall though, it is a great kit for the cost.

If you're looking for a beginning fishing pole for any kid, I would highly reccomend this one. I have done a video review of this pole on YouTube at OutdoorAscension so make sure to check it out. To start off, the pole is a telescoping pole which is an awesome feature for each storage. Even with the telescoping feature, the pole is still very strong. The pole is easy to put together and easy to take apart. The real seems to be a higher quality real with fairly good string. The pole sits comfortably in a child's hand and is very easy for a kid to use. The only downside of this fishing pole would be the baits that come with it. They are kind of gimmicky.
