Received package and product was in excellent condition. Instructions for assembly are excellent. I easily assembled this frame in less than an hour-- glued all wooden pegs ( Tight-bond Wood glue; long open set) for extra strength. The frame is well sanded and routed, poplar wood. Being a big fan of poplar, I found it to be quite beautiful and decided to use it in its natural form. I may decide to lacquer it later. All peg holes/ screw holes were accurately drilled by KD Frames, and this was a fun project to put together. I added a DHP 6" coil mattress, and it complements this frame perfectly. I've been sleeping on it for over a week. The frame is very sturdy and doesn't shift or creak. The mattress is firm, and I sleep very well on it. I found the frame and mattress easy to fold into the couch position. It is very comfortable as a couch, and I have taken a few naps on it-- again, very comfortable. Definitely recommend.

I don't want to give this a one star, because it's really a simple and solid product. My issues arise in the design. This futon can not be placed against a wall. To flatten the futon you pull the back supports out and let it lay backwards onto the ground. This is obvious in the pictures, but be wary, if you don't have a ton of space maybe a forward sliding futon would be a better option for you.

The biggest issue I have with it is that my futon slips. I have more of a mattress style futon, which I also got from Amazon, and very frequently I have to lift the futon and then press my knee into the crease to get it to become a couch again. I'm going to buy non slip pads to see if they help, and I'll update this review if it solves my issues.

When my old futon frame broke i looked at buying a used one on craigslist. This new frame costs less than what most used frames were going for, and it showed up to my apartment in a relatively small box less than 12" x 12" x 72";. It took about 3 leasurely hours start to finish, although you can probably assemble it much faster. It's not as easy to recline as more expensive frames, but the simplicity in this frame's engineering will probably keep this frame working for decades unlikely my last frame.

The downsides: you can't easily raise it since the rear feet move positions, and there are actually 6 points of contact with the floor when it's reclined. I would've liked to raise it 12" higher off the floor but there's no easy way to do that.

Sex- In the reclined position the top side is a bit squeaky but the bottom is firm and quiet regardless of how much shaking you might do. The construction is simple enough that I'm sure it can be made much quieter if you used wood glue to the joints during construction- but of course makes it impossible to ever disassemble.

I'm thrilled that i was able to get a frame this good shipped to my apt for less than what i was planning on paying just for a rental truck to haul a used futon frame.

Now a few things, you will need, and cannot put this together without an electric screwdriver and hammer, or mallet.

The second this, this will save you a lot of time, separate the planks according to size, differences etc, same with the screws etc. I used an egg carton to separate the screws out.

You can probably do this on your own, but I strongly suggest you get a friend to help you.

Next you need space to put this together. You will have the frame, and then the back ends seat separate.

Now one very important piece of advice, there is an old adage, measure twice cut once, and here, before pounding the pins in make sure you didn't put the pieces upside down. Unfortunately I misread the directions twice and had a very hard time getting the pins out so look at the pictures, look ahead see if it looks right.

You will need a few hours to put this together and plenty of patience.

Once together it is very well constructed and will last a long time.

It is very easy to use. The 5 positions are how low or high you want the futon back. It looks low when first together but once the mattress is on it is much better.

Very easy to lay even just across.
