Not exactly what I thought they would be like when I ordered

Not exactly what I thought they would be like when I ordered. They are sort of like a hard sweet tart in texture, but rather chalky. I have gotten used to them and believe that I will continue to purchase these rather than the gummy variety. Easy and economical way to get my calcium.
No More Large Tablets To Swallow

These chews are so much nicer than the large calcium tablets I was taking. Starting to get a little tired of the sweet taste but still much better than the tablets.
Not a bad taste and not that chalky. Calcium is calcium carbonate rather than calcium citrate. Can be hard to chew.

I have the start of osteopenia, and my doctor had recommended that I take both vitamin D and a calcium supplement. I was looking for a calcium supplement that was chewable, because I had read that calcium from a chewable tablet is usually more easily absorbed than calcium in a tablet swallowed whole. Other reviewers are right, these chewable tablets are much like Tums. They are fruit flavored and I don't find them that chalky. However, the tablets are sometimes a bit hard and crunchy, so people with bridges or crown on their teeth beware! I recently popped my dental bridge off while chewing one of these, and I was lucky the bridge didn't break.
Although I also take a vitamin supplement to get vitamin D, the fact that there is vitamin D also in these tablets is a plus. Just note that the vitamin D in the tablets is less than the full daily requirement, so it is necessary to supplement the vitamin D through sunlight, food or another vitamin supplement.
My only concern with Caltrate is that the calcium is in the calcium carbonate form, which is supposedly a bit harder for the body to absorb than the calcium citrate form when taken without food. I try to make sure I am taking the tablets with a meal.

Terrible Taste

The doctor recommended that my wife take a Calcium plus D supplement and these have the recommended amounts. Unfortunately, she hates the taste but plans to suffer through until she finishes the bottle.
This size is a great value for the price

These chewables are much easier to take than the tablets. They taste similar to fruity antacids and you don't need water. This size is a great value for the price.
