I bought this blanket 3 months ago, and at first it worked well. The heat is very spotty and last night it caught fire. It scared me
right out of the bed. Nothing was damaged, but not the kind of language I wanted my kids to hear from me. I always liked electric blankets
and thought people were way too paranoid to think they might be dangerous, but this is my last one.

Coldest electric blanket I've ever owned.

If I could give it a zero star I would. If you do not mind going to bed and freezing for 5 hours and then waking up sweating, this blanket is for you. It arrives with a red sticker that says "This blanket will not feel warm to the touch" and suggests starting out with it on high and adjusting the settings down as you see which setting works best. Unless you are hot blooded, this blanket will not keep you warm in a 60 degree bedroom. I have owned several electric blankets in my life and of several different brands, all of them cheaper and all of them worked better than this expensive one. Save you money, don't buy it. I usually set it at 7 and place another blanket on top of it to keep warm.
I have been using Soft Heat blankets since 2008

I have been using Soft Heat blankets since 2008. It took a while to find an electric blanket that doesn't know it's an electric blanket. For me, a Soft Heat blanket is a light-weight blanket that keeps me warm. Over the years, I've slept on top of it as well as under it. I've put blankets on top of it and used it as a summer blanket without the power cord plugged in.
One time I thought I had a problem. I pressed the on button, the control light came on, and a few seconds it went off. After going through that process several times, I realized I hadn't connected the power cord to the blanket. The instructions don't say the control light won't stay on if the blanket power cord isn't connected to the blanket.

Own two-Love them both!

I own two. Both purchased from Amazon. I have no idea why I am not a verified purchaser.
Anyway, things to consider with this blanket. Low voltage will give you virtually NO electric bill. I have left them on by mistake and never saw an electric jump. Since I have two and use them daily,(one on my couch for daytime comfort and one on my bed) I would know if the electric bill changed on a monthly/seasonal basis. It does not.
The low voltage also presents a potential problem because of the tiny wires imbedded used to heat. Just last week, the older blanket (about 5 yrs old) had a problem for the first time. On closer inspection I found that the wires coming from the imbedded receiver in the blanket had broken. I think that this will eventually happen. I was able to re-connect the wire by soldering it and using shrink wrap to seal the union. This required opening the blanket up by cutting a small flap in the fabric. Not something that everyone would want to do. But it is low voltage. This should extend the life of the blanket for another year or two.
IF I had not done this, the blanket is still well worth the price and the wonderful comfort I get from this type of blanket. Only those who have one of these can really know how comfy the heat is. The heat is very even with no hot spots. I have a queen bed but purchased the smaller size because I like to be able to get away from the heat sometimes in the night if I wake up hot.
Hope this review helps you make a choice.

I am very happy with the blanket itself
PATRICIA HARRINGTON✓ Verified Purchase•October 27, 2016
I am very happy with the blanket itself. The wires inside cannot be felt once in it and doesn't feel like a regular warming blanket. However, the wires leading from the controller to the blanket are fragile and actually split from the plug into the blanket. I bought this blanket in July and have only recently been using it. The blanket did shut itself off once the wires detached.
Would someone please post contact information, i.e. email address for seller? Also, I don't understand why Amazon is still selling his blanket after many pictures of dangerous wires and fire?
