I don't use it to pull boats off the water. I use it to pull riding mower, generator, or other heavy stuff up onto a pickup using a cheap crane arm and 6 foot ramps. It works well, even though I max it out every time. It does not have a "reverse", so you got to get used to the tension release and crank it to reverse. No problem, it works and is lightweight.
