Completely satisfied

Bought this microwave during a 2011 kitchen remodel and haven't had one bit of trouble with it. Bounced back after my mother accidentally left a potato in there to the point of fire. Buying another for basement kitchen remodel. It does open and close more slowly than pulling open or slamming shut a standard microwave door. I sometimes find myself a little impatient with it, but that is more reflective of a crazy "immediate satisfaction" mentality, than a fault with this product. I find it much more convenient to put things into the microwave from above, rather than having to work around a door. I don't know the specifics of the technology, but I believe the cooking function is in the roof of the microwave and that it rotates - obviating the need for a rotating turntable. I could totally be making that up, though. Double check me on that yourself if that is an important concern for you.
Looks really sharp.

Looks sharp. Never heard of a microwave oven, but had my whole house remodeled (total gut) so my new kitchen counter has a spot for a microwave oven. Very expensive, like a$1000.00 But found one for $700+ used, but at times, door keeps opening when having it closed. Also, I may get which sounds like electrical sparking when oven is on. I'm going to have it serviced. But love it still.
Hate it but had to buy it again

I had to buy it to replace my 6-years old that stopped working. 6 years for $800 microwave oven is really bad. From reading reviews - I was lucky to have it for 6 years! The problem with this built-in appliance is that it uses very specific opening. So no other alternative will fit (unless I decide to put a really small one). Don't do my mistake. Sharp lost its name long ago. Don't buy it if you remodeling your kitchen. Consider other vendors with more standard sizes
Do Not Purchase This Fire Hazard
Chelsea Beenk✓ Verified PurchaseJuly 6, 2017
We had this microwave installed with our remodel and used it for a couple weeks, last night it began to make loud growling noises and billow smoke when in use. This is clearly a fire hazard, exacerbated by the fact that it is a built in appliance. We contacted Sharp about a replacement but they stated that they have to review the case and get back to us in 1 business day, as though a new microwave going up in smoke is not a cut and dry warranty issue, we'll see....

Total piece of junk!

UPDATE 7/31/17 - Still no functional microwave, tried it a few times and same smoking and loud noises. Sharp agreed this is a clear warranty issue and to replace this hazard, we have been in touch with the delivery service but they're a few weeks out and it's been 19 days since we reported the issue. Why can't they just comp us a unit via Amazon?

As a former Amazon employee; this is clearly warrants an ANDON CORD

We had an unexpected electrical meltdown with our Sharp Microwave this evening.

We installed this beautiful unit in a new home that we built last year and have only been using it for approximately
6 months.

Unfortunately for us, the return time frame has passed . . . . so we may be stuck throwing this costly unit away.

Loved it at first, but not sure I'm in love any more.
