My husband bought this for work a few years ago and loves it. I got one for my (aging, slightly forgetful) dad, and he seems to like it. It fits in a shirt pocket, and allows you to carry all those fleeting thoughts with you.
Does not hold a pen (no loop) but has been a non issue for us. Would love if it could hold a few business cards- does have a slight pocket in back where the notepad goes in, and that works in a pinch.
Super durable. Husband has used his daily for 3 years and it is worn in,but far from falling apart.

As others have noted, standard 3x5 memo pads do not fit well (in either half of the cover). I was just barely able to brute force a pad through the loop, after snipping off the corners of the pad (so they would not dig into the leather). There have been so many complaints about this, that it's pretty clear that the vendor doesn't care.
I did not notice the intense odor another reviewer complained about. Yes, I can detect an odor (a bit like benzene) when I hold it up to my nose, but I can't smell it when it's in my breast pocket, or when I'm using it.
