Works great for secondary hook up
Boise Nelson•August 23, 2016
Bought this for bow to trailer on my boat as it did not have one. Fast, easy, efficient
OK hold-down, but can't be snugged tight
R. D Johnson•July 24, 2016
It seems to be a sturdy-enough strap, but I agree with the other reviewer who noted that--being a simple luggage-strap style friction buckle--it isn't really possible to snug it down tight. For my application I ended up using a ratcheting tie-down (the BoatBuckle G2) to cinch my boat down and remove the load off the bow winch, and ended up using this strap as a secondary 'fail-safe' tie-down.
The picture is also confusing as it seems to show the buckle attached to belt loops on both ends, which obviously can't work. What you actually receive is a safety strap with a belt about four feet long and a loop at each end like the one shown, each loop about 4" in diameter. The 'gripping' end of the buckle rides on this belt between the two looped ends. The other end of the buckle is attached to a belt about 9" long from the top of the hook to the buckle as shown. The buckle itself is about 3" long. You'll need at least 16" between the trailer frame and bow eye in order to even attempt to cinch the strap tight, lest one of the loop ends of the belt interfere with the buckle. An another reviewer noted, you need to pass the buckle and hook through the right-hand loop of the adjustable belt enough times to take up all the additional belt or you'll end up with a few feet of additional belt on the left side. Unless, of course, you have a huge boat, in which case you should be looking for a different strap anyway.

holds front in down great
Doesn't pull tight enough.

This is not a ratchet-style tie down strap. I couldn't pull the strap tight enough to secure the bow as tight as I wanted. Had no problem with returning the product.
