This is the biggest scam that can be sold. Had the handheld scanner for 4 years or so worked great. They stopped the program that ran it so we were forced to upgrade. Bought the NEAT DESK and took 3 days just to get it to install. Because they make you buy an additional yearly package for you to access technical support on the phone. You are allowed to email them with any purchase but in order to speak to anyone you must pay for package. So again we were forced to buy package and have dealt with technical support for last 4 days now trying to figure out why it's not working properly.
Simply put it is falsely advertised it doesn't do anything it says it will do EXCEPT MAKE A COPY/ SCAN of the paper you are putting through it.
I have scanned over 200 receipts and I have had to go back and correct EVERY single one of them. It doesn't recognize the correct name, amount, date, tax amount or payment form.
Called technical support AGAIN and asked why it was not working properly. And was told the software that runs it is the problem it won't always recognize the receipt. I was then informed that the only remedy for the problem is to input all the information manually. Not a big deal if you have a few to scan but with a company you will pull your hair out trying this method.
Bottom line falsely advertised and sold and shouldn't be sold if product doesn't do what it says.
Anyone looking to buy this product think twice better off buying simple scanner and setting up files manually since your going to have to do that anyway.
Good luck buying a new car and the keep the wheels from you then make you buy them at an additional cost only to find out the don't hold air like they were advertised to do.

This is the worst supported office tool ever. I purchased this product less than 18 months ago. Had to change computers and found out the software for my NEAT ND1000 is no longer supported by the company. Two days with tech support and about 8 hours of IT time I was told for $14.99 a month (extortion money) I could get access to my files (via the cloud)on the old computer. If they could give me access to my files that easy why are they charging me $14.99 a month to access them. If you do decide to purchase this product you must realize you don't own your documents once you've scanned them into your computer, NEAT company owns them. If your computer goes down or the software to operate know they (NEAT company) will shake you down like a Russian mobster to get your files back.

Avoid this scanner. When I initially purchased it, the product worked well. I updated to OS 10.11 and there were some scanning issues. The software crashed a little more often and I had to use some silly procedures to get my computer to recognize the scanner (Turn on scanner, load paper and then, and only then, open the software). When I upgraded to OS 10.12 the software refused to work completely. Neat has now gone to a cloud based software. I tried a trial subscription and came away extremely disappointed. Scanning is incredibly slow, particularly on analyzing the scans. What used to take 1 or 2 minutes now takes 10 or more minutes. The scan quality is extremely poor with gray backgrounds on simple B&W pages. Image alignment no longer works well either. Technical support and customer service are non-responsive to customer questions. This scanner is going to the donation pile and I just purchased a product from another company.
Can't figure out how to save the files to a place of my choosing.

I'm requesting a refund. It seems like the system is pushing to use their cloud service to store documents along with a monthly fee. I can't easily find a way to have the documents store in a place of my choosing either on my computer or on a cloud service I already use. The software doesn't seem to have a preferences setting like most OS X programs. I just want a scanner and a database program. I'm not interested in buying a "service" or having any monthly fees.

I purchased this product with the idea that I can get rid of my growing mountain of papers. Out of the box I was excited and began digitizing my files like crazy. I was able to clear out a full filing cabinet. So I should be happy with this product, right? WRONG! I came back 2 weeks later to scan some more documents only to find that the software wants me now to sign up for a paid subscription to use the stupid thing. Why would I spend $300 for a scanner then have to pay a monthly subscription to use the stupid thing. Contacted their "support" and they said that I get one free year then I have to pay for the service. 1. I have only had the thing for 3 months so why can't I log in and get my files back. (no answer). I was told that I would have to use a legacy software that they no longer support to use the device. 2. Provide that software in the box and then upsell your silly subscription services if I want to see my files on the go. Which I don't I have a dropbox for that! save yourself the hassle and the funds this is just a glorified scanner without their expensive software and customer service is next to near nonexistent. My $300 paper weight. PS I bought the stupid thing in August for $300 now it is down to $180 still save your money don't buy this!
