This bar grips like a gorilla holding his banana

I was surprised at the serious quality of the BuddyBar when I received mine. I had just returned a much less expensive security bar, (2) actually, the Brinks 675-83001 Home Security Commercial Door Jammer, that I bought on Amazon. They were just junk. Hey, they sold for $20 each, what could I expect for that? JUNK!!! That's exactly what I got, JUNK!!!. and I sent them back for a refund. Parts missing, other parts broken.
The BuddyBar is exactly what the doctor ordered. Very heavy duty, very high quality, and it really works well.

Hard to believe I see a few "1 star" ratings here. No way! This is a "5 Star" all day long. Obviously those "1 Star people" can not or didn't read the instructions or they just can't comprehend what they read.

Get this bar set at between 12 - 18" inches from the door and it works like crazy. I set mine at 15".
This bar does NOT slip on a ceramic tile, carpeted or wooden floor, not at all. I tested this in my house. I have all 3 floor types. . This item has a true rubber foot, not plastic, like the cheap ones. Get the angle right and no one is getting through the door. The setup is very clear in the instructions. The easiest way to set this bar up is to set it about 1/4 - 1/2 inch or so under the doorknob, then set the foot pad about 12 - 15 inches from the door and lock down the handle. To remove it without resetting it every night, just kick it out a bit and remove it. Now it's ready for tomorrow, all set up for you. There is no rocket science to it.
Doing it like I describe will set the thing at a proper angle and someone will not get in to your door from the door knob side. I don't care how hard they kick, they just will not get in with this bar installed. Don't forget, scroll through the product advertisement, 2 of these bars held up a 5,000 pound pickup truck with no problem, they are seriously very strong. You think you can apply that kind of pressure by kicking? Bruce Lee couldn't do it, neither will you and 3 of your friends at the same time.

I doubt one of our Sheriff Dept. 35 pound Police Ram Busters could get through with this bar properly installed.
Now, I'm not saying the dirt bag creep trying to break in your home won't kick in the other side of your door, the hinge side. But the BuddyBar will help with that too. It will certainly help slow him down, way down..
But to really protect that side of the door You would need a product called a jamb seal, like a Armor Concepts SET-EZA-23000 Entry Door kit. That would give you very good protection for the hinge side. If you have a good solid entry door to start with and have both products installed together you will have great protection for your door.

One more very important thing for good security... the screws that hold the door hinges. In the hinge area, change out your factory supplied 3/4" long brass hinge screws. Use 4" coarse thread, plated Deck Screws on each hinge. These will bite right into the actual door jam studs, not just the casing. Same for the latch bolt and dead bolt plates, use 2" or 3" Plated Deck Screws there too, whatever works in your case.

Look, it's almost impossible to stop a determined criminal. But you sure can slow them down, a lot. Criminals do not like to make a scene, they do not like to make noise. They want IN your house, fast.
When they are trying to get in your house you want to slow them down, force them to make a racket, so you can call the Police and do whatever else you have to do to survive a break in while you are home.
It's your family, your life. The BuddyBar is cheap insurance.

Impressed by the solid construction. My door will break long before the bar. It's also easy to use.

I first purchased two of these in 2011 and they are still going strong! They are built to last a lifetime! Yes, you can buy less expensive versions but you can't buy anything that compares to this version! It's SOLID and built the best! To me, the security of my family and home is what's most important! I can promise you this, if used properly, per the instructions, NO ONE is getting in your home via your door! It's THAT Good! So, if you want peace of mind, THIS Buddybar Door Jammer Home Security Door Bar is the way to go!
Gives me peace of mind!

Bought this to feel safer in my apartment and it works great!! I don't think it would completely stop a intruder but it would slow them down. Between this and a ring doorbell I feel secure being home alone at night!
Excellent security bar

I bought this door security bar as well as a Master Lock 265DCCSEN Dual-Function Security Bar . The Master Lock bar is made of a light weight metal. The top "fork" that goes under the doorknob is plastic and the foot is plastic with rubber on the bottom. The top and bottom cylinders (body) of the bar are locked by a metal pin that sticks through various holes in the bar. You push in the pin, slide the two cylinders to the length you want then allow the pin to pop out the closest hole. The Buddybar is made of thick steel and much more heavy duty than the Master Lock. The top and bottom pieces are locked together by a locking lever that fits into steel teeth on the side. All parts of the bar are steel including the fork at the top and the foot plate which is covered with a hard rubber to grip the floor.

For both bars I did the following test: I put them on my front doors, which are a double set of doors, where the second door has slide bar locks at the top and bottom and the main door has a standard door knob that fits into the second door. The floor by my door is wood (just so you know what the foot was on). After installing the security bar and unlocking the front door I went outside through another door. I had the doorknob turned so it was only the security bar holding the door shut. I kept giving it very solid pushes with my shoulder for about 20 sec. I kept trying to see if I could knock the bar loose by repeated quick pushes (putting most of my weight into it) and quickly releasing.

For the Master Lock bar the door itself was giving some, I noticed the area right by the knob (where the bar is) was giving a little. By the end of the 20 seconds it was slightly more lose, but was still holding firm enough to keep the door shut. When I went back inside and inspected it, the bottom of the bar had slid just a fraction of an inch (which is why it seemed looser at the end), but it was still secure. I'm sure if someone was really going all out they could eventually get through the door, but at least if they do I am confident I will be awake and ready to respond (and already on the phone with 911).

When I used the Buddybar, there was noticeably less give in the door and it never got any looser. After the 20 second test I went in and checked and it had not budged at all. This thing is solid. If someone gets through my front door with this thing on it would require breaking the door itself.

With information on bump keys (google it if you don't know what they are) easily available on the Internet it is becoming a more likely scenario for a thief to use one, thus potentially entering in total silence. While a chain lock or slide bolt would also make sure they had to make some noise for entry, I think the security bar will make the door more solid than either of those and give you more time to react. A medium set burglar who already bumped your deadbolt and doorknob lock could get through many chain or slide bar locks with one strong shoulder push. From my testing I think even a heavy set burglar would have to give at least several full on hits to defeat the Master Lock bar and would have to break the door with the Buddybar. In either case you should have more time to react.

I think the Master Lock bar is a good economical bar and will be suitable for many people, but the Buddybar definitely provides superior security, though at a premium price.
