These speakers sound great. Before installing them I did notice one VERY important issue with them. The base of the speaker is solid and siliconed shut and there are no drain holes whatsoever.
I understand they are supposed to be waterproof, but if you do in fact place them outside and it rains, they are going to start filling up with water.
Eventually the speaker portion itself will be in water and it will fail shortly after that.
For the price you would think they could have thought out their design a little better.
That being said, drill a few small holes in the siliconed base to allow water to drain out or you will be replacing them after the first hard rain.

My aging rock speakers are looking a little rough (still working, but the rock finish was starting to peel off after 10 years). They no longer make that brand, and I needed corded speakers for my installation, so I bought these. They are decent looking, just not as rock-like as my previous speakers. The sound quality is even a bit better than my old speakers - I live near a thruway and it's loud, so I'm just looking for a decent sound - I don't need the same sound quality as I would want for indoors because you really can't hear the difference with all the traffic noise. What I didn't like: the embedded wire is just a stub. It extends like an inch past the bottom of the speaker. Which means I had to relocate them to reach my underground cabling because my old speakers had longer wires.

I'm a snotty audiophile weirdo who's used to expensive Revel floor standing speakers in my listening room, so while these may not be that, these speakers sit on my back patio taking a beating from sun, rain, and snow, and always sound lovely and never the least bit objectionable with regard to frequency holes or exaggerations within their design spec. These replaced a pair just like them that I bought 18 years ago, badged differently but were the same, until a driver in one of them finally lost its composure and started flatulating. How can anyone not love speakers that sound great while being kicked in the teeth by weather for nearly two decades? Here's to 18 more years!

I was looking for rock speakers. Good rock speakers. And when I say good, I was looking at all price ranges. Sure, I could have spent more money, but did I want to? Not real. I didn't want my dog to lift his leg to them. So I got these as a fail safe. And they're amazing. I'm really happy with them, and not in a sarcastic way. They'll get the job done for a fraction of the reprice others would allow. Get these and you'll be happy.
