I got this after reading reviews, bot of the Oneida and of several competing products, one of which said the collector was useless so they went back to their original Oneida. I can't speak to the others, but this works just the way they say it will. It's wonderful to be able to mill out the back of some 2x8's (7 gallons of sawdust per two boards) and just watch the dust fall into the translucent bucket. My shopvac is also pulling more suction as a result of having a cleaner filter.

Actually, the photo is a Low-Pro Dust Deputy version. I also have a Dust Deputy 2.5 mounted on the wall in my very small shop. With the exception of my table saw, all of my tools are bench-top or portable (Miter saw, Router table, Jointer, and Planer, etc.). I use them on the bench pictured, both outdoors and indoors for everything. This setup is ideal for me, and cost effective.

First - hey, Oneida, if you made a unit for the Bosch Dust Extractor L-Boxx style (ala Festool Dust Extractors Systainer clip-on) I bet they'd sell! Or here's an idea - make one in a box style with then adapters that could clip onto systainer or L-Boxx or...whatever.
Otherwise, the set-up of this unit was quick and easy - or, a lot less time consuming that I had thought it would be. Yes, it is a bit of a PITA to have two wheeled devices to pull around. No, I have yet to attach the "leash"-like device/cord to my Bosch Dust Extractor to help the tag-along, but I guess when I comes down to it -- when it is in use, I'm not usually moving around too much. I noticed little to none (noticable) suction loss and the fact that I can now use my Bosch Dust Extractor without its most annoying Auto Filter Clean function is awesome. I chose it since it was one of the quietest extractors out there, but the volume at which the AFC system BANGS three times every 15 seconds (that my condo neighbors can hear and actually thought I was pounding because I had been trapped under something) totally negates my original mission.
Anywhoo - this Oneida Dust Deputy 2.5 is the bomb!

I was skeptical that this unit would catch fine dust from sanding wood, but it actually does. It's amazing to see the dust in the 5-gallon pail and little to nothing in the vacuum itself. Have used this on cold wood ash with the same great result, and emptied the bin under my table saw with no problems. We also use it to catch the hair when clipping our cocker spaniel and dachshund coats with no problems or clogging. For reference I have it attached to a 5 HP Rigid shop-style vacuum.
