Great shave; Not quite perfection for shower shavers
ZDF•October 11, 2017
Top line: Great razor that gets a little slippery when wet
Good: LOVE the butterfly opening on this baby--first time I've tried a safety razor with this option, and it's a big upgrade from the old screw top option. This razor also looks fantastic: Sleek black lines and a nice cylindrical hash-patterned body. I also won't have to worry about the typical soap scrum issues with a typical stainless steel-bodied razor.
Bad: Unfortunately, this razor is a little slippery in the shower. I bought it to replace another razor that was dropped, and seeing the hash pattern sides, I expected it to be a lot grippier than it turned out to be. The length of the post is good, but the body itself is quite thin by comparison to other razors I've used, so it might not feel great in really big/meaty hands. Haven't dropped yet, so fingers crossed.
Other: This razor has neither a flared neck nor base, so the only option on your typical razor stand is to hang it by the head. The balance is not perfect, so it may lean a bit (if you care about such things).

I must share that I'm glad I ordered the razor

Pleasantly surprised ... when I received my new Parker 96R safety razor. I opened it up and gave it a try. I must share that I'm glad I ordered the razor. I have not had this close of a shave in years. As well the close shave appear to last at least a day over the time limit I would normally get with the disposable bic shave I've been using. I believe over time not only will I appreciate having a closer shave. I will benefit from the overall savings of not having to buy the disposables throwing money out the window..... Thanks so much I feel great that I can share the great results.....

Back in 2010 I decided to order this type of razor as I was tired of paying insane rates for the new crap that wears off after a couple shaves.
I remembered my dad always using this type of razor and I have not regretted my decision. More often than not, the old ways are the best and shaving like this brings back fond memories of watching him in the mirror as a boy.
I've used this particular model for 5 years now and it hasn't let me down. Old faithful it goes where I go and I'll be ordering either this model or something similar when this one finally gives in. I previously had a model 89R which wasn't a butterfly head design and after a couple years I dropped it and the head broke off of the handle. I have yet to have that problem with this model. The only thing is that the 89 was a bit heavier so it seemed to more easily lend itself to a closer shave, but as with any of these types of razors familiarity, skill and patience is key.

Made under (mild) duress.

Used it twice with pretty good results so far, but the company keeps pestering me for a review via email.
So here's your review. 4 stars for a pretty good razor, and a star knocked off for spamming my email. :)

My new favorite razor
whitwo•January 12, 2017
I picked this up to replace my older butterfly razor and really like the quality and feel of this one. The weight is just right for me and the razor is on the aggressive side. I have a twist Edwin Jagger too but it fell apart a while ago. This is my new favorite by far!
I usually use feather blades but tried the Shark ones that came in the package and really like them. I think the feather blades would be too aggressive.
