Although I started hunting way back in 1976, I'm relatively new to deer hunting. You watch the deer hunting shows and they grunt call the bucks in during the rut. Here in NC, it doesn't exactly work that way - but...... I ordered this for an upcoming hunt. Arrived promptly.
During the hunt, I grunted every twenty mins or so.. Unfortunately I missed an 8 pointer but that's a different story.
Had a young fork buck come in and feed -- so I watched him for over 45 min.... grunted a few times he would always pop his head up and look around
Can't say that this called them in but didn't scare them away either.......

It works, and it works well.

First time I ever used a deer call was this call a week or so ago. I have used it maybe 5 days total so far. Out of those 5 days I've used it, I've pulled in deer on 3 different days with it, each time a buck. This first time I used it I called in what may have been the biggest deer I've ever seen on public land with a huge 10 point rack. I assume he was coming in looking for the other buck he thougjt was there and was most likely ready for a fight, but I believe he smelled me because he came in, stood behind a tree and then took off before he saw me. Nevertheless, it has worked on numerous occasions for me, me being a beginner call-user. Probably the best on the market.
Not to mention this has always had a very annoying vibrato sound which makes it sound like a deer ...

Used it three times, not very cold... It tore about a half inch inside from the main hole. Not to mention this has always had a very annoying vibrato sound which makes it sound like a deer on a jackhammer. The only good points is it looks nice, and it might make due for a backup call if my other call goes south... But no deer has had a good reaction to this call so far, they generally get nervous or start walking away after use.
Good Natural Sounding Deer Call But Beware of Cold Weather
bwp_guardian•February 23, 2015
I do like this deer call as it is very natural sounding and easy to use. However, I live in Northern Maine and it gets very cold up here even in the fall. What others have said about this call is true and the weather. If you do not keep this close to you in your jacket and it is below the freezing mark, the call will start to not work properly due to the cold weather until you get it warmed up. The DVD they send with it is nice but really does not teach you how to use the call and I was disappointed in that part. You have to YouTube it or search for the way to use it properly but it is relatively easy to use. I would recommend this but keep the above considerations in mind.
