This tastes ok. It's really really spicy though so don't overdo it. I was thinking it wouldn't be this hot. Flavor is ok, but mostly hot.
Essential for Thai Cooking!

I've been making a lot of Thai dishes and going through the red curry paste quickly. Our local chain supermarket only carries the 4oz jars and they are used up too quickly. Was happy to see this 14 oz container, which tastes just as good and much more reasonably priced.
Very good Rest Curry paste for Thai food

Until about 18 months ago I'd never tried cooking Thai food, although I've loved it for a long time. Found a recipe for Thai Chicken Soup that called for red curry paste so I researched the best brands and overwhelmingly it was Mae Ploy. So when I finally used up my first tub, I naturally came back for more! I've used it in other recipes for that "little something extra" in non-Thai recipes. I've learned the hard way that a little goes a long way! Otherwise you'll have a big pot of Thai soup that burns your mouth! And I like heat, lol. It's a little difficult to get out of the original bag, but you can put it in smaller pkgs and store in the tub it comes in. It lasts forever in the fridge (well, probably not forEver, but at least a year or more if you haven't used it by then anyway). I was happy to purchase my 2nd tub and it'll be lasting me til late this year. If I get more bold (and start doing more cooking 🤔), I'm thinking of getting the Mae Ploy green curry paste for a change of pace. Never thought I'd cook Thai at home, but I'm glad I branched out a little, starting with Mae Ploy, and found it's not as complicated as I'd thought. Now I know what Makrut leaves, and have coconut aminos & fish sauce in the cupboard...and I'm not afraid of them!! Go For It! You'll be happily surprised.
Good stuff.

Comes packaged in a vacuum sealed plastic pouch inside the tub. To use you need to empty the pouch into the plastic tub for long term storage. Taste is really good. I've noticed some of the local Thai restaurants in our are use this paste.
Delicious but spicy!!

I couldn't find my normal curry paste at the grocery store, so I got this kind instead and used the same amount I normally do. But WHEW CHILE this was spicy! I have a very high spice tolerance and was struggling. My kids couldn't eat it at all. My husband said it tasted *almost* like the Thai restaurant we really like. So I will totally buy it again, but I'll use less for sure! Also, I am confused about the tub it comes in. There's a pouch inside the tub. Am I supposed to squeeze the paste from the pouch into the tub? Is it just for funsies?
