This is a wonderful heat pack that I leave in my truck, you never know when you'll be in pain and appreciate some heat therapy.
The only Con is that "recharging" it is a slow process. Instructions say to boil, then simmer in a pot of water for a total duration of around 30 minutes which is standard for these types of heat packs. I can typically get away with around 15 minutes most the time once the waters hot. But because of this, I don't use it half as often as I would otherwise.

I bought this heat pack specifically to keep melted chocolate (in a bowl) at the proper temperature while dishing the chocolate into molds. It works well, although I still need to work quickly before the chocolate goes out of 'temper'. Overall though, the pack doesn't keep it's warmth for more than a few hours at the most.
To return the pack to it's pre-heated condition for reuse, you must follow precise instructions regarding boiling the pack. It is ESSENTIAL you follow the instructions properly. If you try 'boiling' it in a frying pan or some such ridiculous way, it is going to burst.
If you can follow instructions and use some patience, this pack will help fulfill short-term heat pack needs over and over.

It started off working great. However, after a few uses the liquid would start turn into an odd "jelly"-like form on its own after about the fourth use, and I have only used it five or six times. It wouldn't heat up by itself, but it appeared as if I didn't boil it long enough. I usually boiled the pack for the amount of time suggested in the directions, and later I tried boiling it for longer to no avail. It would appear fine after I finished boiling it, but the next day it starts to jelly up again. The heat pack still heats up just fine, but I'm worried that the lifespan is shortened.
If not for the odd change, then it would have gotten the full five stars because it feels great. If it does lose its lifespan, then I will remove a star.

This is a very useful and very neat product! It works exactly as described -- click the metal disc, and the clear liquid instantly starts turning into a crystal-like product and produces nice heat for a good hour. Boil it until it's clear again, and it's ready for another round. Ingenious! Since the outside of it is ordinary plastic, I would recommend you wrap it in a towel before boiling it, to avoid having the plastic touch the sides or bottom of the pot. Otherwise, the plastic could melt. I've also found that, after boiling it, the pack stays warm for a while, so you can actually use it again when it's fresh out of the boiling water, while it's still warm -- it stays warm for a good long while. Then, once it cools, if you're ready for more, it's ready to be re-activated. Pretty neat! I'm considering buying more of these in different sizes. Excellent product -- I will be using it a lot.

Instantly gets hot. I don't have a accurate temperature gage to list the tested temperature but it is not excessively hot to cause permanent damage from direct skin contact. However that being said when avoiding skin contact use a thin cloth to reduce the amount of heat loss from the fabric. Recharging the pack is straight forward and easy. Depending on the pack size you will want to confirm if you have a large enough pot prior to purchase.
