Lid Gasket Fell Out After Two-Months Use...Otherwise Very Good Cat Kibble Container.

Update 12/01/2017: I requested replacement gaskets for the container via email found on their website. I received a reply stating that replacements would be mailed, but no apology, or "sorry for your trouble, etc." I received two replacement gaskets in the mail and they fit the lid perfectly. I'm hoping they last longer than two months this time.

Original: Nice looking, easy to wipe off Raccoon paw marks, keeps Raccoons and ants out, holds full 16-lb bag dry cat food, and very importantly is easy to maneuver due to the multiple gripping sites.

However, two months after buying on Amazon the rubber gasket simply fell off when I picked lid up to replace. The gasket seems stretched out and will not stay in lid long enough for it to be replaced. I believe the gasket is an important feature in keeping food fresh, and the ants out. I see mention of gasket issues in Reviews as far back as 2013, so I have emailed the company asking for a replacement. I'll report back on how this goes and if it is successfully resolved will definitely recommend to others.
Addition 11/18/17: I screwed the lid on with the gasket askew, hoping that the lid would still stay on tight. It didn't, and our cute neighborhood Raccoons visited and were able to remove lid for a snack. Please see pictures.

I have two of these, one for cat food and one for dog food. They work well to keep the smell contained (my dog leaves them alone and I swear he is part pig with his eating habits). They are easy for my kids to open and seal well.

As for how much they hold.....it's a volume thing so you can't go by weight as different foods have different densities. I suggest measuring a full bag of your current food and seeing if the volume of the container works for the volume of your food bag.

I deducted a star because one of the containers has a seal that comes off from time to time. It is easy enough to put back in place, and it doesn't impact the effectiveness of the seal, but it's annoying to have to fix it every so often.

Perfect container for keeping large bags of pet food fresh.

I love this container. I get the 35lb bags of Natures Domain dog food from Costco, and this container holds the amount perfectly and keeps it fresh. My dog would start getting picky about her food towards the end of the bags... but since we started using this container, she loses no interest in her food down to the last kibble. It definitely keeps the food much fresher and is super easy to open and seal. My 8 year old son has since taken over the responsibility of feeding the dog, and he enjoys using this container. Added bonus for us is that the included scoop happens to be the exact right amount for my dog's serving size, so that has been much appreciated as well. Honestly, I was skeptical of paying so much for a simple dog food container, and when it arrived I thought that it seemed a little lightweight- but after a few months of using it, the convenience and performance been well worth the cost. My dog is happier with consistently fresh food, and I'm happy with the perfectly sized and easy-to-use design. No more fumbling with dog food bags. This has been a great investment.

I bought this "heavy duty" Gamma 2 Vittles Vault Nov 18, 2015
It's been inside of my house the entire time, opening only twice a day from then to now (Feb 25, 2016). No rough handling. My photo will shows how it's coming apart.

Loved the idea of it, considering it was gently used and this happened, is there an EXTRA heavy duty option?

I contacted Gamma2 Incorporated's customer service via their website regarding my issue and promptly got a response, they priority shipped me a replacement same day.
and based on the dealer support vid page, i think some of us may be over tightening this product (my honest opinion atleast)

Cheap material, containers rim cracked in two places with little usage and is no longer air tight so kibble isn't kept fresh. I would not recommend.
