Valuable Bait Maintainer

I use these bubble makers on my kayak to maintain live bait when the more expensive water pump looses prime and fails. They are an inexpensive back-up that more than pays for itself the first time, the regular pump malfunctions. Before using add dielectric grease to all contact areas to prevent rust and extend the life of the aerator. Keep the aerator inside the clear plastic package it comes in to provide another layer of protection from water. These aerators have water resistant seals,but water ingress is common if they get sprayed by waves without maintaining them in the original package.

This purchase replaces the same unit I had for decades, that worked nicely for live bait in both cold and warm weather. Not as quiet as it claims to be by its name, but it will do the job desired. Just remember to always remove the batteries, even if just for a short time on the shelf. That's did my old unit in - my bad. Recommended, and a good price.

Very cool product, I like to keep my snappers or minnows lively and refreshing the bucket with oxygenated water is a major pain the rump. This little fella fixes that, super happy with it. I opted for this quiet version and it lived up to the name.

So these things work ok, don't last long in a saltwater environment but then what does. Don't get them wet thats for sure as the water in West Bay here in Texas will eat it up before you get a chance to get to shore and clean it up. With all that said, when functioning they sure keep the shrimp alive, just keep it clean and don't expect it to go longer than 12 trips out in the boat spray or kayak paddle drippings. But for the price get 3 or 4 to get you through the season.
Update: I applied some silicone to certain parts and it seems to help. My last one is still going strong and I alternate it from the Baby Cat to the kayak on the weekends. Changing batteries takes time but with some silicone its much more durable.

The Hush Bubbles air pump was used in a 5 gallon aquarium during a power outage shortly after receiving it. It pumps air very well, but is extremely noisy. We could not tolerate being in the same room where the pump was operating. The noise of the pump also bothered the fish. They stayed at the opposite end of the aquarium as far away from the air stone as possible. In addition, the product I received was different in the area around the outlet tube than what is shown on the web page. I have returned the product.
