Solid and practical firearm storage solution
Mark M.✓ Verified Purchase•August 27, 2016
This case arrived on time and in perfect condition, great delivery.
Once secured to the studs in the wall and secured to the stand - the case is solid as a rock.
This case is not a ~1000 pound, fire-rated safe - so if that is important to you look elsewhere.
Note: I made a stand to raise it ~18 inches off the ground. This helps lift the case off the ground, raises the shelves so they are easier to get at, and left enough space to put a handy Husky Stackable Storage Bin underneath. It's also possible to just mount the case to studs -- without a stand.
The stand-offs and scope extensions for the stand-offs are great, but are set too high to support short firearms. It is possible to secure a small shelf (mounted though the case and into the stud) to support very short carbines, just a ~2-4" block is plenty for a Ruger 10/22. ((Not sure this is the 'best' solution, but it is working great for us -- all the barrels reach the rests, and everything sits secure and solid.)) -- Safety First.

VERY happy!

EXTREMELY happy with our purchase of this gun cabinet. When delivered, the outside box was somewhat beat up - BUT the actual cabinet was in perfect condition! Very happy with this item. We did make a few small modifications - on the right side where the rifles are against the right outside we drilled two holes and where the top rest for the guns is so our AR's will fit properly. Took a few minutes to do with a drill - no problem. We also left one of the shelves off in the left-hand side as it would have been too close to the top to use for anything but small items and we decided we could use the extra space in a different way.
Remember, this is a gun CABINET! It is NOT a friggin' safe! If you need and/or are looking for the piece of mind of keeping your items locked away in an impenetrable item - SPEND THE MONEY ON A SAFE! Plus we don't have any curious kids to worry about trying their ingenuity to get into this item. It is along the same lines of thickness as a filing cabinet - hence the name GUN CABINET.
We just needed something to keep our guns and certain other items locked away and to make it a heck of a lot harder just in case someone breaks in to grab it and go. Most thieves aren't going to spend a lot of time trying to break into something especially after they've broken into your house - they want to grab and go.
Got it while it was on-sale and am very happy with item and pricing. Wish they'd had the black cabinet cheap also, as I would have preferred the black one - but when the green was around $100 cheaper? We went with the green. LOL

But what a surprise arrived earlier than expected in perfect condition. And as far as assembly is concerned ...

expected it to need to be assembled and was concerned about the condition it would arrive, especially right before christmas. But what a surprise arrived earlier than expected in perfect condition. And as far as assembly is concerned all you do is put in the some shelves if you want them. Its a weldment enclosure. I did some modifying for my purposes but this is a solid investment. Gun security should be #1 for gun owners with all that is going on these days.
Arrived in perfect condition

Mine arrived in perfect condition. It was delivered by ABS Freight to my house in Wisconsin. The cabinet was in a clean heavy-duty cardboard box which had internal cardboard bracing providing spacing around the inside of the box. The bottom was lined with foam padding. In addition, the box was mounted on top of a wood pallet with strapping holding the box on it. The carrier used a pallet jack to move the cabinet into my garage, after lowing it from the truck on a Tommy-Gate lift.
No damage found anywhere on the cabinet, when I took it out of the box. The paint finish on the steel looks/feels solid, smooth, and is deep black in color. Nothing thin about the coating. No chipping or hazy paint found anywhere. I would go so far as to call it a car quality type of finish. It's that good.
I'm hoping everyone else has as good an experience as I did with this cabinet. With all the complaints about poor quality and shipping damage, hopefully Stack-On has been listening (and improving). Note that the keys are in a hidden flap inside the main box; so don't throw it away too quickly!

Good product, should have been cheaper price.

Package was delivered in good condition. No dents or blemishes of any real kind.
Pros:
*No surprises. I knew this wasn't going to be a real deterrent to thieves if they wanted to get to the contents based on other's comments and my own experience with Stack-On products. I bought to keep curious hands off the guns.
* No shelf on the right side (gun side) of cabinet. My previous Stack-On had a shelf on top that made it difficult to put long guns (26+" barrel shotguns) in and out of. This is void of anything getting in the way to putting firearms in/out.
*Left side shelves are sturdy (so far). They are just wide enough to put 3 boxes of 12 gauge ammo across. Tight, but will fit. I've loaded it with ammo, so only time will tell.
*Had some foam padding for the bottom of each shelf on the left side and then the bottom and sides (you needed to install super easy peel and stick stuff) on the gun side.
Cons:
*Two separate keys for each side of the cabinet. I get why Stack-On would do this (another level of security from curious hands), but it's just annoying for my purposes.
*A little overpriced. I paid about $350 for what essentially are 2 versions of their $120 cabinets. The right side is pretty similar to their 8 - 10 gun cabinet without the top shelf installed. While the left is basically a less wide storage cabinet with some shelves. Yeah there is some convenience factors, but if each side has it's own separate key anyway, what really is the point? I think a price point of $250 would be a better option.
****NOT Stack-On Fault*****
Shipping simply pissed me off. My above review is for the product, but the shipping was really bad. It was delivered in great shape, but 2 weeks late because my address was somehow screwed up between Amazon and the carrier (carrier #1) that got it to my state or carrier #1 and carrier #2 that got it to my door. Carrier #2 was courteous, called the day before to verify my address and the day of when they were about 0.5 hour from delivery.
Carrier #2 actually called 2 weeks prior to deliver and that is when I noticed they had the wrong address. I call Amazon and verify on my end that nothing was wrong. They simply had the wrong address. Why it took 2 weeks to deliver the package when it was sitting in a warehouse 20 miles away is beyond me. Carrier #2 needed to contact Carrier #1 to get an OK for an address change, but that was an entirely too slow of a process.
Take that 2 week window out of the shipping process and I'm satisfied.
