Could be a 5 Stars Product - Screw Cap, Total Fail
Amazon Customer✓ Verified PurchaseNovember 10, 2023
So I have used this pole as a mast for my ham radio antenna a couple of times. Easy up, easy down, light, great....Almost 5 stars. I intend on using it for years, and already super happy with it.

The take away (-) was the screw cap used to keep the bottom from falling out. It's insanely cheap compared to the effort and build of all the rest of it. Mine for example, broke screwing it on for the first time. Trying to think of a cheap piece of plastic to compare it to...I'm stumped. I would put more faith into a milk gallon cap, but it's not large enough. Little tape, fixed, good as new, but that part for sure needs to be revisited by developers. I'm sure they know.
Broke at the first use, but vendor replaced it for free

Update:

Apparently, Sunrise Industries reads reviews of their products. After I posted the Original review (below) they contacted me and asked if I had any problems with the pole. I explained what happened, and they offered to replace it free of charge (and I could keep the old pole). A week later the new pole arrived (black this time, but I prefer that color anyway) and now the kite is flying for second day, no more breakages. I really appreciate proactive approach to the customers that Sunrise Industries exhibits, and will recommend them to anyone. The pole itself is also very good, by the way, quite light and flexible. I change the ratings to 5 stars, both for the pole and the customer care.

Original review:

I used this pole to fly a hawk-looking kite hoping that it would protect my cherries from the birds. I am not sure about the protection results, but this review is about the post. The first thing that happened when I attached the kite and tried to lift the post up, it broke at the second from the top section. I used a thin metal rod and duct tape to repair the post, and it served for several weeks. The problem with the duct tape was that it caught the string attaching the kite, which could not slide easily up and eventually big part of the string was wrapped around the pole. I had to untangle it every couple of days. Probably I should have returned the pole and replaced it with a non-defective one, but then the cherries would stay without protection for another couple of weeks. Another thing is that beautiful orange color of the post becomes pale yellow on the sun within less than a month. But maybe it is better for the protection.
Great for getting things unstuck from trees!

I sometimes get Radio-Controlled airplanes, or bungee-launched free-flight airplanes, stuck in trees. This is really nice for getting them out. This pole can be extended via 2" PVC pipe as well, which is very nice.

I expect that the maximum extension possible without getting too much slop would bring the pole out to perhaps 50~60 ft long or so, but I'm not sure. I extended my pole to 37" as follows: I bought one 10ft 2" PVC pipe, and one long 2" to 2" coupler. One end of the Jackite pole is too wide to fit into the 2" PVC pipe, so I cut the 10ft pipe into two sections: 6ft and 4ft long. I then carefully pushed the Jackite pole into the 4ft section of 2" PVC pipe until no more fits in. The string winder retaining clips on the side of the Jackite pole are good, as they stick out enough to make this a snug fit. Then, I put on the 2" coupler, which DOES fit over the wide end of the Jackite pole, and I attached the 6ft section of PVC pipe to the coupler. Now, my pole is essentially 37ft long. If I bought another 10ft PVC pipe and 2" coupler, I could extend to 47ft, then 57ft, etc.

Again, GREAT FOR GETTING THINGS OUT OF TREES! :)
Falls down easily

This is for the 31 foot pole. Let me start off with the good. It is a study pole and except for a shipping delay it arrived in good order. The top section is solid and slightly over 1/4" thick.

I used this pole to build a vertical 10,17,20,40 meter hf antenna. I just 3d printed up the stuff I needed to make it an antenna. A far easier thing than holding on to a big kite.

The bad. The pole will not stay up with out putting clamps on each section. This is without anything attached to it. I had to install clamps on all but the top section. You will need 5 2" hose clamps and 1/2" vaccume hose from the parts house to cover the clamps.

It will serve my purpose well but those not clamping it will have issues.
Nice pole

Becareful of the line holders on the side. They can cut your hand. Only wish they made a 34 ft long. Would be useful when making a 40ft 7mhz antenna.
