INCREDIBLE Quality Knife!
Kevin Lounsbury•July 1, 2017
WOW, what an INCREDIBLE knife! Super heavy duty, with a solid feel in my hand. The thick, full tang makes this knife a BEAST! The blade holds an edge very well, and makes this an excellent tool for everything from batoning wood to doing some detailed work. The handle is incredibly sturdy with excellent grip. The sheath is excellent as well, with a plastic insert to make sure you don't cut the inside of the sheath when inserting or removing the knife. There's also a velcro pouch on the sheath for storing a whet stone. I'm a backpacker and prepper, and I've used a lot of knives. For the price, this knife really delivers on quality. My other survival knife is a SOG, and I have to say that THIS knife is neck-'n-neck with it in durability, reliability, and build quality.
good utility blade
bedford337•May 9, 2017
Looks great and feels great in the hand but is better utilized as a hammer when you pull it out of the box. It is big and beefy but not very sharp. It requires substantial effort to put a good edge on it and subsequent maintenance to keep it sharp. If you are looking for a tough inexpensive blade to beat on then this is your buddy. For $40 you get a $40 blade not a high end survival knife. This beast is nice to have when you do not want to risk your more expensive blades so I would absolutely recommend this product. Good product for the price.
Quality and price but not what I was looking for
G. Long•April 30, 2017
I saw this knife mentioned in a blog article and decided to try it out since it was relatively inexpensive. From a quality point of view, it is fine. The price is right. I am not a big fan of the shape and it is bigger than I figured when I looked at the picture. Those might be good for others but I don't think I will buy another one. I will probably just leave this in one of the cars just in case there is a need for something on the road. What I was looking for when trying this was a knife I could get for all three of my sons, kind of like a standard issue survival knife for our hiking and camping trips but this one is too big and too heavy.

Can't do the job without the proper tool
RDN•April 10, 2017
"you can't do the job without the proper tool"...a favorite saying of my Dad which I have not thought of in years.
Digging around the house this morning I uncovered a stone plaque which had been forgotten (and buried ) for at least 15 years. The area was very constrained so I went to my tool of choice, the Schrade extreme, (purchased from Amazon in 2012). Once again it did the job....perhaps not the one for which it was intended but it came thru once again. This knife, like the old Volkswagen bug, can do anything well if you take care of it....in this case oiled and sharpened.(Wish it were true for many other tools I've purchased over the years)Purchase this knife if you need a tool you can use with confidence for years...you won't go wrong.

Schrade Schf9 Ultimate Survival knife
Dr. Monte•March 31, 2017
This is a well made knife! It is 1/4 inch thick 1095 steel, which is the preferred steel for combat knives. Keep in mind this is not stainless. If you prefer stainless, I recommend the Schf9n, which I also own. It has a full tang, gimping, a nice chortle, lanyard hole, and a good handle. This is the knife to carry when the Zombie Apocalypse hits... I'll carry two knives then... My Zero Tolerance 0302 folder, and the Schrade Schf9. What more can I say? If you plan on surviving, carry something that is durable and will not fail you. A good, "all around" knife...
