I bought this item after hearing that my combination Festool Kapex saw and matching Festool CT32 vac might have problems running off a single 15A circuit. This from numerous posts on FOG, the Festool Owners Group blog.

So now I have two separated circuits and use the iVAC to control the dust collector when I run the saw.

After I bought it I learned that there is a problem only with the Festool Kapex in that it continuously draws a small amount of power. And that would trigger the CT32 to turn on even when not using the tool. I got in touch with the folks at iVAC and they said they would exchange it for a unit that was specifically modified to deal with the Festool products. The new unit arrived and is working well. Recommended.

Good folks to deal with and I would definitely buy from them again.
Great Asset for Dust Collection

This switch is a great addition for me as I would forget to turn on the vac when making cuts. This switch works fine connected to a single power source with my Dewalt DWP618 router, Bosch 4100 table saw, two different handheld sanders and a Dustright wall mount dust collector (running one tool at a time). Just plug the vac side power cord (labelled vacuum input) into the box's "Auxillary" outlet. If I connect my Dewalt 12" DWS780 double bevel miter saw and the Dustright I have to use a second power source, but it works great with either method of connection. The miter saw is a beast and pulls quite a bit of juice!

It has a momentary delay for the vac on start up and about 7 second delay in shutdown to allow for the sawdust to clear the hose. The rocker switch on the front allows for the Auto setting, Off, or manual activation of the vacuum. This is helpful when you just want to use the vac for clean up around the tool without having to change plugs or something along those lines. I love it. Different saws and tools draw differing amounts of power, so I am glad I got the model that has the two separate power cords. This is a welcome assist to help keep my work area cleaner, great product!

Going to agree with Bait & Switch
Package shows 1 hp Dust Collector but limits it to 12 amps. Well my DC 1 1/2hp DC draws 11 amps but for the third time the contacts have fried. Woodcraft who recommended the product in the first case has honored the return as it was their understanding it should work.
iVac wants me to upgrade to a minimum of $100 unit which would not be automated. If going to have to use a remote will try the Box Store version for $10 first.
If you have over a 1hp DC DO NOT BUY THIS, you will get three months before it craps out.
Nice but now dead!

This is the second unit I have in my shop and it is dedicated to my sliding compound miter saw and a shop vac. Had the cheaper one that worked for about ten years but quit after falling on the floor. These seem much better built and so far so good.
UPDATE: Less than a year old and it has given up the ghost!! For this price it should last at least a year. Guess I should have stuck to the cheaper one! Funny thing is I have and older model of the same equipment that is still going strong and it's almost 10 yrs old. Wish I knew about electronics so I could troubleshoot this thing. My vacuum stopped going on with my tool so I now have to put the switch to "on" and manually switch my vacuum on and off, which defeats the whole purpose of my buying this switch in the first place. Very disappointed.
First of all like a lot of other folks reported

I had a lot of problems with this vacuum switch, First of all like a lot of other folks reported, the circuit breakers are way too small for many shop tools causing the pop everytime you start a tool. So the first day I owned it, I opened it up and replaced the circuit breakers with 20amp ones. Quite a pain to find breakers that are the right size and all to fit in these little boxes. Upon opening up the box I was very disappointed in the quality of the manufacture, and materials used, another fine example of cheap Chinese manufacturing, low quality all the way. Then after about 10 months the unit failed completely, after only very light use in my home shop. I really wish there was another higher quality alternative.
