I have a back overuse injury that I need fixed ASAP, so I tried this heating pad (Platinum version). While the pad isn't large enough to warm my entire back, my injury is mostly in my mid back. So, it works, but It would have been nice to get my lower back at the same time.
After reading reviews, I was hesitant about the level of heat that this pad would provide. But the heat is enough for me. It penetrates and raises my core temperature. When used for the duration in the instructions, I start to sweat.
The strap fits around my chair and can hold it in place at the correct height. The instructions suggest using it a few times per day. With a warmup time around 15 minutes, and around 45 minutes per session, the time can add up quickly. But if i am going to be working at my desk anyway, it is fine. I paired heat therapy with strengthening and mobility exercises, and it does seem to work well.

I pulled a muscle recently and it took a long time to heal. Heat and ice are supposed to aid in recovery. I opted to get this pad to see if the far infrared heating really does something. I think the quality of the materials and the construction is good. The pad is nice and soft compared to a plastic pad I have from the drugstore. However, I don't know if there really is much difference between heat sources... heat is heat.
Anyway, it's pretty well made and does the job. It has no auto-off timer, which can be a problem if you're using it to heal an injury and fall asleep with it, but also has some merit if you want to keep it on and manually remove the pad periodically.
I doubt it's really worth the money, but it's worked well for me the past week or so.

I bought the Thermotex Far Infrared Heating Pad "“ Platinum about a year ago.
I use this a lot and for me, it really does help reduce pain and stiffness in my hips, knees, and shoulders.
I have had a form of arthritis that started when I was in my teens. It has gotten worse as I have aged, of course.
this pad, and also the foot version, have truly helped me to keep-on with my normal daily life.
I do not know about the EMF's or other electric issues that some people are concerned about. I do know that these Thermotex products do truly work for me.
It is important to understand that this unit is NOT like a regular inexpensive heating pad!
So you do not actually feel much surface heat like you would feel with a regular heating pad.
This product somehow does do more of a penetrating type of heat that seems to be able to reach into my body to soothe my painful, aching joints. The Foot version does the same thing too.
I love these products for what and how they the work to reach painful joints.
