Just What the (Audio) Doctor Ordered
By CJs PirateJanuary 31, 2016
Huzzah! Just what I needed. Somehow my original power cord began shorting out and giving me an error from the receiver unit saying my Auto Antenna for XM was broken.

I bought both this cord and antenna only to find out once powered I didn't need the antenna cable. C'est la vie, I've got a spare now.

This cord does exactly what the OEM piece did. It's a lifesaver when it comes to powering the Sirius/XM receiver.
Good power cord, bad design.

Standard XM power connect for an adapter that broke. For some reason I feel that the piece that connects directly to the SiriusXM radio is a little weak. The wire is too thin for my liking and feels easy to break. This is probably a design flaw more than anything else. Our last one broke by having the cable accidentally pinched. After that happened it refused to feed power to the radio.

Other than that it functions fine when working.
Designed to fail, but what are you going to do?

Designed to fail! So they can get more money off you! Ridiculously thin, flimsy wire, with a little wall wart type cyliner that was probably put there to make the thin little wire rip out a little more easily. I bought this back in 2013 and I see they refuse to modify the cord. Why would they? Probably a nice little source of revenue, all around , for all involved! Seeing as this is the only cord that will work unless you go to an electronics shop and build your own, this is the only game in town. Your best bet is to buy 2 rolls of electrical tape, and then very carefully wrap and encase the entire poorly designed assembly in electrical or duct tape, until it is one solid snake like blob, from the cigarette lighter to the wire itself, and especially entombing that little cylinder thing in tape as well. . And then once it is a solid blob from the cig lighter to the wire , handle it with kid gloves! The weakest link is where that wire actually feeds into the cigarette lighter attachment itself. Its just ITCHING to rip out and detach! Anyway, the decent radio and music programming on XM though is generally worth all the hassle of rigging this plug so it doesn't break every other week on you! But Ive never seen a crappier product that is designed so that it is going to break on you ASAP!
Roll the dice, see if this will fit your player...

Hoping to use our Sirius Starmate 5 in the car, I first checked out the Sirius.com website to find an exact product number match for the car charger we needed. I pasted that number into Amazon. This product came up. I read the customer questions and answers and there are more than one that indicate this will fit the Starmate 5. When it arrived, I saw right away that it actually will not. Good luck finding what you need, people. This is going back for a refund.
A better cable than the original

I bought this as a replacement for the original. The original wore off right at the connection to the adapter after only 6 months or so. This adapter has a more thick cable connection to the adapter, so I do not anticipate that happening with this cable.
