Kind of sharp sand, not the soft smooth kind. Worried about my newts underbelly but he seems okay with it. Easy to clean the tank with a siphon and spot clean with a baster in between big cleanings. Just can't put the siphon end down on the sand obviously, but holding it up off the sand like a half inch-inch doesn't suck the sand up and works well just fyi. Color in the pic looks pretty true to the real thing. Not too white, more a beige-grey color.

Very happy with the sand. Looks great in my 3 gallon tank. I followed the rinsing instructions, and used the clarifier which was included, and the water looks nice and clear on day 2. No fish added yet, but I am hoping a betta will be happy with it.

First time getting sand substrate and it'd great. It's not too fine and the granules aren't too big. My dwarf hair grass is also growing along with my Java fern. If you do decide to grow something in the grass you may want to order some type of supplement to put underneath the substrate so they will grow out.
