A very loud alarm to alert you when lost LINE power is restored
Ron SinclairAugust 26, 2017
They say to have an electircian install it. We did, and he did it wrong. Once it was reinstalled, it worked great. This is NOT designed for outdoor use. Make sure it is out of the weather if it is installed outdoors, inside a weatherproof box! It should be installed on the LINE IN, BEFORE the transfer switch. It is then ARMED to sound when it senses power restored to the LINE IN.

I think this is pretty necessary and this is about the only product out there that does this. I think it is quite loud. My panel is in the kitchen and I had to muffle it because it scares the kids. There is an issue I had with it though. The section of wire you wrap around the service line strongly wants to unwrap itself. Initially I had duct tape wrapped around it to hold it all wrapped in place, but it loosened itself over time. Unless you frequently test this unit you wouldn't know this happened and once the power goes out it's too late to see if it will work. I had to re-wrap it with electrical tape. I think it should be redesigned not to be so springy. It's difficult to keep it tightly wrapped on the line.
Works good if you can get the white wire to stay in place

Works good if you can get the white wire to stay in place. Unfortunately this wire maintains a lot of "spring" to it and is not a forming wire. I wrapped it with electrical tape first to hold it on the main leg, as it would not stay by itself as pictured, it had so much spring to it that it busted right through the electrical tape within a few days. I had to re-do it and wrap 3 large zip ties over it to hold it onto the leg enough to get a proper signal. As soon as it comes loose it will not read incoming power.
Some production issues but great customer service

The first one I got wouldn't trigger. I contacted the company and they told me that I could open it up and adjust the sensitivity. I did this which helped but then when it finally triggered, the alarm sounds for a second and I heard a pop and then just static. It blew out the speaker.

I contacted the company and they responded quickly and agreed to send me a new one (and provided a return label to send back the old one). When I went to install the second one, the potentiometer which adjusts the sensitivity popped off. I contacted the company again and they kindly agreed to send me a 3rd one.

3rd one works great! We've had a few outtages and it works exactly as I'd expect.

Obviously I wish it would have worked from the beginning but since their customer service is so good, I think it still deserves 4 stars.
Loud siren when utility power returns
KMMarch 23, 2016
Mounted in the bottom knockout of Reliance Controls MB75 Indoor 30-Amp Meter Box. Loud siren when utility power returns which is nice since I'm using a lockout device which shuts the main breaker when using the generator. Highly recommended. I'm unaware of another product out there that does what this product does.
