These shorts saved my back
Rae Noling✓ Verified PurchaseSeptember 25, 2023
Finally got some good use when I wiped out last week. The padding on my lower back took all the impact! Mo bruising or soreness. I was able to get right back up and keep going. No pain the next day either. 100% I support this product. Cleaning it is a bit more work than other clothes or pads, but it's worth it to protect my hips and spine. I may even buy another one to keep in rotation while I clean them.
THESE BUTT PADS ARE THE BOMB!!!
Motorcade Mom✓ Verified PurchaseJuly 28, 2023
These are the BOMB!! These were purchased for my daughter that flat tracks on a junior roller derby team that mostly skates on polished concrete floors.

Prior to these she was wearing the standard butt pads that resembled bike shorts with bubble wrap inside, somewhat protective, low profile and not that noticeable under the typical "bootie shorts" or short skirts/bike shorts commonly worn. We were new to the sport when they were recommended (and even though they sadly are no longer required safety equipment - which I obviously disagree with - and MANY girls are not using butt pads at all) they were better than nothing.

When I spotted the triple 8s online I KNEW I wanted my tween wearing these, but how to convince her of cushion over fashion??

Much to my surprise - after reading all the pros (great trail bone coverage, hip & leg pads, longer legs which equaled more protected area and no creating up into the crotch area) and the cons (pads are thicker) which is ALSO a pro (pads are THICKER = better protection) to her ... SHE was sold.

Read all the reviews and purchased a size larger than I thought my daughter would wear with some reservations that she wouldn't like the way the look. (I'm not kidding - it's a sport she loves - but this kid is REALLY all about how she looks!!)

They arrived and fit well - not too tight - not too loose. The pads were much thicker than I expected - they looked just like the photos - but those that had reviewed were saying they were much too thin and not as pictured. Humm??

So here's my girl putting on these bubble butt, butt pads, that I was sure she would take one look at and reject ... and this BIG GRIN spreads across he face and she says, " OMG mom, these feel SOOO good and if I go down in these it's not going to hurt!" SOLD!!

She wears them ALWAYS! Under shorts, skirts and tutus and has taken several bad falls - but her BUTT PADS have not disappointed.

Several mom's and referees have asked wear we got them ... Amazon (of course).

Girls junior derby is an awesome sport - they work really hard - they go down on that concrete REALLY HARD - they deserve the protection of these pads.
These are pretty nice padded shorts

These are pretty nice padded shorts. The pads are just plain foam--nothing fancy or special. They do cover a lot of area, and the coccyx pad is especially large and awesome. I use them for dirt motorcycling, and they stop just short of my knee braces so there is no interference.

Regarding fit: I am a skinny person (5' 9", 145#, honest 30" waist), and most of the time I have to order small bottoms, and increasingly small tops as vanity sizing has taken over. I first ordered smalls in these and they were genuinely small--I could not wear them. For reference I wear small Champion boxer briefs, small Ex Officio boxer briefs, 30" pants, etc.

Medium turned out to be a better fit, except for the leg opening. It was far too tight and actually kind of hurt. They don't have any elastic at the cuffs--the mesh is just folded over and sewn. I pulled the openings open hard and broke a lot of the stitching, and now they are fine. Elsewhere they are maybe a TINY bit looser than I'd prefer, but they don't move around and remain comfortable after 6 hours in the saddle.

I also have Alpinestars padded mesh shorts, and some O'Neal ones, both in small. The T8 offer more coverage than either, and it's a toss-up for comfort between them and the A*s.
Less padding than expected, but good

I am a woman who purchased the men's version because i abhor short shorts. Don't even get me started on a diatribe of manufacturers thinking women of all sizes must enjoy tiny 4" shorts so our thighs can stick together when we sweat so we have to walk around like a cowboy or something. Anyhoo...
I purchased a smaller size than maybe I should have (I'm around a 33-34 waist with big butt and thighs) but Medium did fit reasonably well- just a teensy bit snug in the thighs and I probably could've used more butt room but most people prefer their pants/shorts a bit lower waisted than I do. I am pleased that I can pull out the padding to wash these shorts. I was expecting a little more padding than these have but it is placed in the right spots to protect my hip bones and booty bones and it's good padding; doesn't compress too much.
Good protection for rink roller skating

I want all tte protection i can get.
Don't want to get badly hurt - have to work for a living, y'a know?
These shorts have the right amount of protection in the right spots - tail bone, hips..

Worn under my street clothes, over an underwear, these work well.

Haven't washed these yet. Will likely hand wash.

Good value.
