Doesn't stop dog from pulling (no harness does, tho)
LISA HENRY✓ Verified Purchase•January 23, 2018
Well, it does NOT stop your dog from pulling but no harness does as a harness actually encourages pulling. (There may be one out there, but I haven't found it yet and have a pile of harnesses in a drawer that don't stop pulling or I can't figure out how to adjust properly.)
Again, it doesn't stop pulling and in fact, the closure seems quite dangerous to me as instead of being a fixed area around the neck, it tightens as the dog pulls which isn't good for a dog that pulls.
Mine doesn't look quite like the picture, the neck part is like a collar and goes around the neck which is what I DIDN'T want--I wanted one that hits the dog higher in the back and lower in the chest and not around the throat, like a collar. I can't figure out how to adjust the collar part to be bigger and further back as in the picture. Dog chokes when pulling with this harness.
Also, it is quite flimsy and seems like it will tear in time. There are some fleece coverings that go under the front arms but they seem awkward, not durable and hang a bit. Maybe an adustment will fix this, but I can't figure out how to adjust it so it will go in the drawer with all of the others I never used..
I ordered a medium for my 40 lb dog which seems like the right size, but again, the only adjustments that can be made are on the collar part which although fits over my dog's head, it sits like a collar and not a wider fit around shoulder. Can't figure out how to make it bigger.

Brand received was not what was ordered, and poor quality.

Very disappointed. Purchased one of these about 6 months ago - YUP! brand - worked wonderfully - Immediately stopped our Brittany Spaniel from pulling. It was sturdy, no problems with fraying, etc. after months of use. All was great until our little guy chewed through the strap one night. So I ordered this replacement the end of May. What I received was NOT a YUP! harness, but a SPORN brand (see photo). A medium in this brand is much larger than a medium in the YUP! brand, but we made it fit with adjusting the straps. He wore it for ONE DAY this weekend. We took him for TWO walks on that day. This is what it looks like already. Very frayed, unraveling, etc. I suspect this will not hold up to more than a few more walks before the straps are totally unraveled and we are having to purchase an alternative. Frustrating to order a brand you trust, only to be switched to a brand you do not know which is obviously not the same quality.
Works ok and fits my 11 lb mini dachshund
Seattle mom✓ Verified Purchase•January 25, 2017
This is a decent harness - it fits my 11 lb mini dachshund well, and I don't think she can slip out of it unless she tried really hard. There is no easy way to attach it to her collar for security, but I'm not sure that's needed. It's "no pull" factor is minimal, but this could partially be because she's so small. The "no pull" is created by the tightening of the girth around their body as they pull, but she's so small that I don't think there is much tightening going on. Then again, she did pull less than with a traditional harness that's all nice and padded and has a leash attachment at the top. But she pulls more than with a harness with the buckle attachment at the front. I think this one will work ok for us because she's not a huge puller, and we are in the training phase, working toward loose leash walking. So when she does pull, we stop and turn around. And I reward her for walking beside me, not rushing ahead. She's beginning to catch on.
initially worked great. eventual failure with slide lock. Sporn replacing it. ...

Initially worked great. (first review -- works great --I harve used it now for about 4 months.)
9 months after purchase, the sliding lock (clasp) used to tighten, broke, making the rest of the harness unusable (unless one makes slip knot from cord -- suggested by another customer.). The rest of it held up well. This was my 2nd SPORN harness. The first lasted a long time but eventually the slide lock failed (small piece broke so cannot tighten.)
11/3/16 i contacted sporn describing the problem and sent photos. They said that they have become aware of the problem and are in the process of changing the manufacturer. They will send me a replacement harness. Now that is super customer service and standing behind one's product.

Dogs Love it & Easy to Use with Long-Haired Dog

My 8-lb dog used to lie down and refuse to move with a regular harness. The Yup! Harness is soft and padded under the legs and she doesn't mind it! I'm using this now with two dogs; a 4-lb Pomeranian and an 8-lb Bolognese and another bonus is that it doesn't have a clip that you have to somehow fasten while it's buried in all the hair but instead you just slip it on, then simply adjust it with the sliding cord lock. It does NOT keep my dog from pulling, but that is preferable to having her refuse to walk at all. (For pulling, I either attach another leash to the strap at the chest or a leash looped around her tummy and give it a slight tug to correct her--it would be fantastic if this or a similar harness were made with some sort of o-ring option to attach a leash to the chest!)
