good, but has room for improvement

It serves its purpose but has obvious design flaws. the aluminium construction makes it light weight. the fit is almost right but has a little extra wiggle room on the sides. i would like to see a lip or tabs near the rim so the cup doesn't slide down into the stand too far and make the walls taller to further elevate the cup, allowing for greater access to the flame. with these minor adjustments this would be a perfect 5-star item.
Doesn't fit & Poorly packed

Canteen stove was packed without support shipped in an unsupported envelope. Being made of thin aluminum the item was bent completely flat when it was received. As a metal worker, I was able reform it, but it is cast too small to fit over the canteen cup. It will NOT function as a stove/stand on standard canteen cup! WORTHLESS. DO NOT BUY. This is my first review below 3-stars.
Pass on this one

I should have listened to the other reviews and given this one a pass. It's too big for my canteen cup! It has about a half inch gap on both sides when stowed with the cup in it. The cup has to be set on the stove side wise so it won't fall inside while cooking. Valuable heat it lost up the sides of the cup while trying to boil water/cook in it. The cup is in the way of the opening so that you can't feed twigs into it safely with the cup on top. I'm better off using my cup on another stove or nestling it amoung the coals of a campfire. I'm not up to modifying (cutting/reshaping) the stove to make it work. I'll keep it in hopes that I can use it for something else. It was nicely packaged, and arrived undamaged.
Fits outside of nalgene oasis canteen, inside rothco ss cup, no big deal

At first I was seriously hesitating between buying this one and the SS stove stand. After receiving this aluminum one I was pretty disappointed in how light and flimsy it looked, not to mention it looked like it would only fit the outside of my Nalgene 1qt canteen, not the outside of the canteen cup, like the original GI design. My observations were correct. After getting all my items, however, I had no issue fitting the aluminum stove stand around the nalgene oasis canteen, and then fitting that inside of the rothco ss canteen cup (and all of it in a Fox tactical 1qt canteen cover). It REALLY didn't matter that my stand was on the inside of my cup. The aluminum fits/molds nicely to the nalgene bottle and usually i don't even take the stand off of the bottle unless I'm cooking, which keeps it safe from being crushed, etc, and really fits nicely, not to mention is super light weight. At first I was worried about it's strength, especially if I attempted a modification like other users have tried, which I did not. I intend on using this stand only with my canteen cup and or small backpacking cookware. This works perfectly for this, however I would not use it with larger and heavier cookware (i.e. cast iron, etc). Also, a secure fit on the bottom of the canteen cup to the top of this stand when cooking is not necessary. I have found that you get better performance if you turn the canteen cup sideways or diagonally on this stand instead of trying to "press fit" the stand to the bottom of your canteen cup. This stand perfectly fits the Triangia spirit burner, and I plan on trying it with some esbit solid fuel cubes soon.
Flimsy construction and inappropriate packaging

I bought two based on a review that said it would work with the specific canteen and cup I had. They came stacked together in an envelope. Since they did not fit well together, the top of one stuck up above the other and was crushed in shipping. It was mashed down to half its width. I was able to reform it using my canteen and lots of hand molding. It kind of fits down in the cup I bought. I think if I keep working with it and shaping it, forcing it down into the cup, I can get it to work better. I haven't even tried cooking with it yet, but it looks like it will do the job of heating a canteen cup of water fine. I would not purchase it again.
