Works fine, as expected. Adjustable flame attachment needs redesign.
Joshua Senecal•August 16, 2018
I like alcohol burners, and have had one for many years. I purchased this because the gasket on the lid of my old one has worn out and I've been able to find a replacement.
Overall, it's good. Lightweight, and simple construction. Time will tell how well it holds up, but construction, fit and finish appear to be on par with my other alcohol burner (same design) that I've had for 19 years.
Instructions were in Chinese, but these are simple to use, so that's not a problem. I filled it with denatured methanol and used it to boil a small pot of soup. It worked fine as expected, but make sure to have a wind guard handy (or make one). I cooked on a fairly windy day, which caused the flame (and a lot of the heat!) to blow out from under the pot.
The adjustable flame attachment strikes me as a good idea, but nothing more. The adjustable cover is held on with only a small amount of metal (see photo) which after a few uses is likely to pop off. I anticipate needing to replace it with a steel screw and nut. Also, although it "works" sliding the thing in and out will block the flame, causing uneven heating of the pot or pan on top of the stove. This may be an issue, depending on what you're cooking.

Does a good job at a great price. Will mainly use the burner with my other alcohol stove stands.
Simple. Elegant. Effective. Reliable.

Simple. Elegant. Effective. Reliable. No moving parts. Nothing to wear out or get lost.
Should be bullet-proof reliable for backpacking and "just in case we have the big earthquake" bag.

Great budget alcohol stove!

So while I still lust for a real Trangia kit I am happy with this knockoff. It worked great to boil water for coffee in the morning and in the evening to put in my nalgene to help keep warm during winter desert trips. Very fast boil with one of those folding windscreens.
Then yesterday I got bored and decided to try it with the olicamp pot. With the stove only half full of yellow heet I got two pots boiled. Great system until I can get a Trangia at the right price.
