Simply the best salt Grinder around
J. Vanbuskirk✓ Verified Purchase•March 1, 2016
Remember that cheap plastic grinder?
That one you bought from the store to try using sea salt?
This is nothing like that.
The ceramic grinding part is incredible, it allows for a finer grind than any other grinder I have used. I haven't even cranked it all the way down and the salt comes out in a fine grind. I've seen this grinder powder salt so fine that it dissolves as soon as it touches the food.
Don't look at any other salt grinder, just get this one, I personally guarantee it will be worth it.

Terrific grinder IF you get the one with the triangular head

There are two very similar products sold here that look like this -- choose carefully. The one with the rounded triangular head is great. The one with the round head is not as easy to pour out of in a controlled way. This grinder works well for salt, pepper, and most other dried herbs. Put everything you want to have in your great spaghetti sauce in here all at once, grind it up so the flavor is more available, and pour it into the tomato base, for example. Do NOT use it to grind dried minced onion or other things that will be tacky and gum it up.
This grinder makes nice fine ground salt. Update: broke after 2.5 years, buying another

This grinder makes nice fine ground salt, which is what I wanted. It can easily be finer than typical table salt. It's also loaded with some pretty decent salt. The lid can be a bit tough to get off, but seals well which keeps the salt nice and dry.
Update: After 2.5 years of use my grinder broke. The grinding burr is held in place by a three armed plastic bit to let salt/pepper through, and the arms sheared off the center part. The adjustment wheel is basically frozen to the threaded shaft. I'm replacing it immediately, this is still the best salt grinder I've used since it can grind it so fine. I suggest fully washing your grinder's moving bits more often than me (I think I did it twice in 2.5 years, when it needed refilling). I also am amazed I never lost the plastic lid, as my grinder normally sat uncovered near the sink and I never had issues with moisture. This may be why the mechanism got tight enough to break though. The edge of the lid chipped when dropped early on, but still worked well for years. Down to 4 stars.

Faulty grinding mechanism
Gadget Lover✓ Verified Purchase•December 12, 2014
I bought this item a little over a year and a half ago - thought it looked liked a good grinder for the price. I was initially pleased - the grinding mechanism operated smoothly and I like the way the top twists off to fill. However, the spring that controls the "adjustability" from fine to coarse grind is not right. Very difficult to adjust, and I really didn't see much difference in the actual size from fine to coarse. I fiddled with it a bit, examining it more closely, and the entire grinding mechanism appears to sit cock-eyed within the top. It is now hopelessly jammed and gives a coarse grind whether you want it or not. Perhaps I received a "lemon", but I probaly would not buy this again.
Piece of junk . . . BEWARE!

Don't waste your money. It looks nice and worked okay for a month, though I only used it a few times per week. Believe me, it was suffering from neither overuse nor abuse! I tried using it this evening and a ring in the base around the grinder fell out. It was totally useless after that. Amazon informed me that I couldn't return or exchange it because it is beyond the time allotted for return, one month, by a whole week! This infuriates me. Beware the old adage - caveat emptor!
