This mat is a beast and tackles heavy people with no issues.

I read some reviews that were less than thrilled. I wonder if they bought something other than what is sold by floortex. This thing is amazing. the big box stores sell nothing like it.
I am a heavy guy over 300 lbs and it leaves ZERO indents. Its a beast.
Also, mine did come rolled up, but once you cut the straps, it unrolls perfectly and instantly. Btw, be careful removing the snaps, because the mat has a lot of spring once they are removed. They do have a warning sticker on the mat. Heed that warning. Just have one person hold the mat like with a bear hug and have another person cut the straps. Safe and easy.
Do not try to save money and buy a cheaper flimsier mat. Spend double the money and buy this. It will be easier to roll the chair on and last 10 times as long as any other mat.
High recommend this mat, just make sure to get it from Floortex

Cracked and broke after 18 months.

Cracked and broke after a year and half despite being "Guaranteed not to crack, curl" and having a lifetime warranty. "A shipping and handling fee of $30.00 will be charged for all warranty replacements" and you have to ship it to them at your cost. You have to pay about half the cost of the mat in order to use the warranty.
The mat was fine for 18 months, but it was far too expensive to be something you'd want to buy, or exercise the "warranty" on every 18 months. I would not buy again.

2 Years Post Purchase Review - it cracks into shards

I want to give it a variable rating really, as it provides the carpet protection from the office chair 100%, 5 stars. Exactly what I was looking for. However, the durability/safety over the course of two years is what really brings it down to 3 stars. It starts with some micro fractures that aren't that big of a deal and doesn't pose problems to the overall functionality of the product. It wasn't until about a couple months ago that I scraped my foot on something stiff and sharp. With enough of fractures lining up, it can create a larger crack and even break. Once these large cracks form, the structures will continue to degrade and even buckle, which like to trap the wheel of the chair, making it worse again.
I've included a picture, with the main spots covered in gaffers tape. The chair mat to the top left of the smaller piece of tape is broken and I can stick my finger through it. Below the tape, you can see additional lateral and spidery cracks.
So, if you have expensive carpeting, this isn't a bad deal since it comes to about 50 bucks a year after heavy use. Will I buy it again, probably, unless I can find a suitable alternative.

I don't think it's as durable as the manufacturer claims. I bought this chair mat August 2015, and after 1 year of 8 - 12 hours of daily use, it needs replacing. About 3 months ago it started cracking in 3 locations where the chair wheels spin around when moving the chair. About 6 weeks after the cracks appeared, chunks started coming out in one of the 3 locations. Warranty replacement cost $22 for shipping/handling, plus additional shipping costs if the manufacturer requires the mat to be inspected by them. I haven't decided yet if pursuing a replacement will be worth it. I may just go back to using 7/16" plywood with maybe some peel and stick tiles to cover it.
The description states it's for plush pile carpets more than 1/2" think, which mine is, but I don't think the mat is sturdy enough for more than the length of the gripper spikes. Also, just like other's have noted about shifting, mine rotated counter-clockwise and required adjustment about every 3-4 days. The gripper "spikes" need to be longer which might stop or ease shifting.

Beware claims of no cracking...

Purchased February 2014 and it started cracking in October 2015( note: the product description says guaranteed not to crack ). It is now cracked in several locations all the way through ( i.e. not just surface cracks ) . One standard-sized office chair has been on it with no abuse or other unusual activity. It needs replacement because the cracks are now a hazard ( plastic pops up ). It's doubtful I'll pursue their warranty but want to let other know this claim isn't true even with normal usage.
Update: 26-Dec-2016: Amazon was kind enough to replace the cracked original( the manufacturer pretended to allow returns but really just makes the customer jump through multiple hoops even though I sent them clear photos of the cracking - their policy seems to be: assume the customer is lying ) but now, approximately 18 months later, the replacement is starting to crack ( I weigh 190 lbs, so it isn't me causing a problem ). Also, it won't stay in one place for more than a couple of hours before it needs to be moved back.
