OK, just after we bought this it was really nice. Ultra comfortable for about 2 days. It was a little soft the first day but quickly hardened up to perfect by day 2. The problem is it continued to get harder over the next week or so, to the point of where you barely sink... Its like sleeping on a table with a mattress pad. Firm doesn't even begin to cover it. The bright side is we really haven't had problems with our backs; down side is it effects the other joints cause the legs and arms...and shoulders(I tend to roll back and forth when I sleep) are sleeping on that ultra-hard surface too. This has caused discomfort, I have to make sure my pillow is situated just so or when I am on my side facing my wife, it puts a lot of undo pressure on my shoulder..and I start having real shoulder issues. The reason for the update..
We have lived with this fine, and the uneveness of the mattress(her side is very evidently higher then mine and even though we weigh close to the same I almost don't sink and she feels like she is going to roll off the bed at any time) ok; but we went a week to Vegas and we returned, it was harder and more uneven than it had been before.. Or as my wife thinks, I lived with it and when I came back from sleeping on a normal bed for a week, I noticed it more. I think it is a little bit of both.

Classic Brands Cool Gel Ultimate Gel Memory Cal King Bed is a phenomenal purchase. This was an odd order experience as I was tracking it like a hawk ending in a "ready for pickup" cue from a Post Office in another state. That aside, I did not pick it up. Amazon sent another in its stead to my door step thankfully. This comes in a large box. When I say large I mean tall. It weighed approximately 180 pounds. I had to move it in and up my stairs. Not bad for a mid-age 165 lb. man. I highly suggest to work as a team with someone else though. The contents inside have a heavy clear plastic wrap/thick outer clear layer of plastic with instructions laid underneath clearly defining the opening of the mattress. Think "giant cannoli" and that sums up the look of this machine rolled wonder of a package. The 2 included pillows are not much to bark about as I would use them back support or a throw of some sort. They were rolled on the inside of the package. The outer layer of the mattress is not elegant but it is well made. Put a sheet cover on and forget about it. Some people let this rise back to its normal size for 24-72 hours but that is not necessary. That is a statement by the manufacturer saying this item will reach its full potential within that time. It however did so in 3 hours flat. 14 inch is what I observed and I will add photos soon. The smell that some people talked about was minor at best. I turned on the fan while letting the mattress regain its shape and no traces or hints of it were left as I put top sheet on. This Cal King is big and it fully filled out my bed frame which the Sealy I had previously left minor gaps. Good on Classic Brands. There was a weird very hard to notice green stain on the side of the bed I noticed but it was very faint. Not to worried but definitely look your bed over and document before moving forward with sleeping on it. The bed is firm. A lot more firm than I anticipated. That being said it is still very comfortable.

This is a amazing bed for the price! I was shocked when I received it that it was going to be under 14 in tall, by 24 hr it became 14 in. This bed is firm if rated out of firmness 10 being a peice of wood, I would say its a 6. It conforms to your body and actually sinks in the heavy spots i.e. your hips roughly 2-3 inches, which is GREAT for a side sleeper like myself. The bed does not transfer energy like a expensive bed, so my new born will stay asleep and not move when i hop onto the mattress. I have had wonderful sleep in the past few days with the bed. I live in Florida so I was expecting the cooling gel top to be nice and cold, and it does keep the mattress a few degrees colder but does not keep a cold feeling to it. Saying that it as well does breathe well and I have yet to wake up sweaty! The bed was easy to install, It tricked me up at the beginning since I could not find the directions inside a book or pan-flit located outside the wrapped bed, but once I put the bed in place I was able to see that they wrapped the mattress with the directions to the mattress. The mattress gave off VERY strong odors (chemical smell) for the first 12-24 hrs, but by 48 hrs we were able to sleep on the mattress.During this time I kept the room closed with a fan on and opened the sliding glass door in my bedroom. When It opens and unrolls the mattress opens up and expands upside down, I waited 24 hrs before flipping the mattress over. I read other comments and I assume they do this so you don't sleep on your two free pillows. I have my Mattress on two box springs and have had no issues with the box springs. The Fitted sheets are very hard to put on since the height of the mattress, but it will fit Cali Kings. The shipping was off by a little over a week and when I called Amazon they were able to adjust my shipping and sent a 2nd one to me within a few days. I have only had this bed for 2 weeks now but I do not want to leave it. This is a amazing deal and great quality for the price, it knocks out the other company's with it being almost 1/2 the price. I would highly recommend this bed!!!!

Purchased this bed to replace an old worn out innerspring Simmons beauty rest mattress. This mattress is compressed,vacuum sealed, wrapped in plastic and in a cardboard box. I am not sure how the UPS guy got it off the truck but it took everything i had to get it up 2 flights of stairs. Prior to purchasing this mattress I looked at several competitors and more expensive mattresses. The more research I did the more confused I came. Latex, memory foam, innerspring, Pocket spring?

I decided to get a memory foam, but wait, I then read that memory foam gets hot and you sink into it. My wife is a Hot sleeper and I am a bigger guy 6'2 and 260 lbs. Back to square 1, back to being lost with no idea on what to buy. I can overhaul an engine, but cant figure out what mattress is best for me.

Eventually my deciding factors where Price, I could purchase this mattress for less than half of the others I was looking at. Quality, several layers of foam at the recommended densities. Cooling gel layer, Gimmick? will it work? no idea at the time but figured I would have to bite the bullet and find out for myself.

My observations. I have been sleeping on this mattress for a month now.
I no longer wake up sweaty and throw the sheets off.
I am a bigger guy and don't feel that I sink into the mattress like its quick sand.
My wife is a side sleeper but I caught her sleeping on her back snoring away on this new mattress.
I no longer wake up at 3 Am and stare at the clock on the wall wondering why my back hurts.
I no longer go to sleep feeling fine and waking up with back pain.
I don't really care for the free pillows, they are nice, just to poofy for me.
I slept at a brand new hotel with new king size bed, and felt my classic brands mattress at home was better.

So far so good.
Here's the thing....this mattress took about 72 hours to fully expand. The first night I was not impressed AT ALL. By the 3rd and 4th nights the mattress felt nice and supportive. Fairly firm. I prefer a firm mattress whereas others do not so it's a personal choice.
I live in New Orleans where it is hot and humid 9 months of the year and I could immediately tell it sleeps cooler than my previous mattress. So that's awesome.
I ordered the Cali King and the included pillows were standard size so they went on the daybed instead. A nice freebie but nothing special. Probably made with the trimmings from making the mattresses (first impression).
Only complaint (echoing others) the box it came in was absolutely destroyed. But mattress double wrapped so no problems.
It is heavy!! Very heavy!!
