I ordered this cause Viva Labs rebranded to Viva Naturals and I thought the product had changed and decided to try something else. Those who like Viva brand should stay away from this. It's interesting that everyone seems to enjoy the taste of Vitacost Coconut Oil, which is nothing like Viva Labs one. The oil is more cloudy/dense and has a bitter unpleasant aftertaste as opposed to the sweet full but light taste of Viva. In the end I ended up ordering the rebranded Viva Naturals again and seems like it's the same as before, so I'll stick to it. Yes it's a bit cheaper, but the difference is well worth it.
Great for cooking & so much more!

I have been using Vitacost Extra Virgin Organic Cocnut Oil for years. It has so many uses and is great for your health. Coconut oil is supposed to have natural antibiotic/anti-fungal properties, so I like to incorporate into my daily routine in a number of ways. Here are a few of the ways I use Vitacost Extra Virgin Organic Cocnut Oil:

1. I love to cook from scratch & use it in many recipes including bread machine whole wheat bread, pancakes, and many other baked goods, as well as using it to coat the bread pan, skillet, etc as a non-stick product.
2. I use it in an avocado hair mask:
2 tablespoons coconut oil + 1 over ripe avocado, peeled & pitted + 2 tablespoons honey
Simply scoop out the avocado into the food processor bowl; add the coconut oil & honey. Then puree until well blended. Apply to towel dried damp hair & massage into scalp & hair, being sure to coat the entire hair shaft. Cover with a shower cap. I like to leave the mixture on for one hour to really nourish my hair once or twice a month. It is a messy process, so I sometimes lay a towel on the kitchen linoleum and read for an hour. Then I shampoo and condition my hair as normal. It does feel really strange on, but my hair is so much healthier after the treatment.
3. I swish one teaspoon in my mouth for 20 minutes to help prevent dental problems and to keep my mouth healthy. You can do a google search on oil pulling to read much more information on this.
4. I keep a small container of it mixed with baking soda in my medicine cabinet to use it as a natural toothpaste.

The 54 oz container is the best deal per ounce I have found, so I like to get the large container when I purchase.
This is the best ever and you can mix with almond oil

This is the best ever and you can mix with almond oil ,shea butter ,and coffee and you got a great exfoliator! I also use on my hair which is blonde and I do not rinse out and I swear my hair grows so fast and no split ends or damage , my hair was short and I was accused of extensions because my hair is past shoulders and I cut down on heat bc I have natural curls and if you want long hair ,use this and try not to use heating appliances so much and give yourself around half year or year ( depending on your over all health) your hair will be amazing and don't forget to keep using ! Especially when you use flat iron and heat appliances , this stuff for me is better than anything I've used and I've spent hundreds on stuff for hair and skin , my skin I is so soft and fine lines and wrinkles have deminished! Then you can cook in it lol so I can't explain enough about coconut oil and it looks like Crisco and greasy but if you got dry skin or feet it smoothes out baby soft but what I did was put a glob on my heals and rubbed on my feet ,then I put socks over them and slept that way , I had severe calluses and I did this every night after my shower and my feet are baby soft , after I got them healed I do it around once a week , depending on how much I'm on them. So I hope this helps some of you decide and you with the oily hair and skin I would suggest head and shoulders original , that clears acne too ! Thanks
Update: 2017 - I still use this stuff and my hair still amazing and no frizz ! I donot use any hair products to keep it in place ! This is great for fine lines still and I actually don't have any at age 44 ! I know we all get a few even in our 20s but use this regularly to help that too ! Also , I learned it can be used to whiten your teeth but don't swallow just swish around and spit out ( in garbage can) in 3 days your teeth will look whiter !
... to Oil for everything and this quanitity is a great buy! Pure with a mildcoconut scent

My go to Oil for everything and this quanitity is a great buy! Pure with a mildcoconut scent. Again, my old favorite VitaCost brand, which I have cometo trust over the years. I use this as a carrier oil for essential oils, for "oil pulling" mouth swish which is antibacterial and cleansing, for cooking, for moisturizing skin, for melting make up off my face, and for making my favorite chocolate desert. This oil is a solid at room temperature below about 80 degreesand a clear liquid in the hotter seasons. It is healthful and unsaturated so can be used in any recipe. I use this up much more quickly than one would imagine and I live alone! If I go to buy it at the store, I find inflated prices in smaller quantities. This is the best buy per ounce and the VitaCost quality is great.
Coconut oil for scrubs lotions and skin
kathy bergman✓ Verified PurchaseApril 11, 2016
Absolutely loved this cocnut oil. Started making my own scrubs and lotions and this was the main ingredient in them. It is fantastic for the skin, leaving it soft and moisturizer. Even used it sparingly on my face and it seemed to help my oily skin. Yes I used it for cooking as well. Worked well. I would buy this product again
