Based on our own experience, and the experience of dozens of other people if you take the time to read all of these reviews, it looks like they are shipping one defective (or at least lesser quality bulb) with another mid-range quality bulb. Like countless others our first bulb burned out within the first week. Our second bulb lasted 4 months with intermittent use. We are looking elsewhere for a replacement bulb now. It really does seem like they ship two bulbs just because they know one of them is going to burn out and they hope the other one will last long enough that your frustration and disappointment will have been forgotten. Hours arrived in a simple unmarked white box with no branding of any kind.

When the bulb in my 20-year-old lava lamp went out, (did the bulb really last that long??? I don't know if my parents ever had to replace it) I got a pack of regular 40 watt bulbs at the grocery store. They took a really long time to heat the lamp, so I ordered these. They perform exactly the same as the ones I got at the store. Turn the lamp on at least an hour before you want to see action, and a lot of hours before you really want to see all the chunks melted. Oh well, at least they work.

This comes in a package of two. The first one burn as soon as it was put in the lamp. The second one lasted a very short time.

Buyer beware! The bulb does not work. It does not get hot enough to make the lava effect happen. The picture shows the lamp after eight hours plugged in. Absolutely no response from the seller after posting multiple questions online. I am not the only person having this issue, either. The product is not authentic. It comes in a generic box, not like the packaging in the photo.
