Good box, cheap handle and compression latches

This is a really nicely constructed box, and it is well-sized for most purposes. However, the handle is light cheap plastic that seems inappropriate to the weight of the box. The compression latches are very poorly designed (in that they are very easy to break), and made of cheap plastic.

Works awesome! Read and "follow" the instructions and you will have no problems with the container. Well made high impact ABS plastic and not cheap plastic as others have stated! Seals perfectly and locks tight! It's not Fort Knox but it gets the job done for the price paid. If you want Fort Knox then go buy fort Knox $$$.

I actually had to order two of these because the first one arrived with a broken clamp - Amazon customer service was great about sending out a replacement free of charge.
After a few weeks of storing documents in the replacement safe, I went to retrieve them only to find that some felt damp. To confirm my suspicions, I removed the items and replaced them with some blank paper and an unsealed envelope; I let it sit for 2 months and returned to find the paper saturated and the envelope sealed! Plenty of moisture indeed.
I wish I could return this but unfortunately the return / replacement window has passed. Despite the price and the brand name, I would recommend customers looking for a fireproof safe to avoid this purchase. See other low-star reviews for similar testimonials about how moisture gets in and ruins the important items this safe is intended to safeguard.
Also, despite the product description, it is not wide enough to allow a standard Letter size piece of paper (8.5" x 11") to lie flat.
This is a complete waste of time and money.

Perfect media box for my needs

I needed a box that could protect my digital media from fire and water, but it needed to be small enough to fit within my larger security safe, which isn't itself rated for digital media. The choices were few and oddly shaped. That's why I bought this. It's external dimensions are just enough to easily slide in and out of my large safe and the internal dimensions allow me to put my digital and paper media in #10 envelopes and access them like a mini file cabinet. My only gripe is that I'd like to be able to pull the key out while it is unlocked. This would be optimal in my situation, where the box is kept inside a larger security safe.
I wouldn't recommend this as your primary safe simply because it's too easy for a thief to just pickup and take. But if you have a secure place to keep it, it's a cheap way to protect your most sensitive documents and media from fire and water.

I am very pleased with this safety box. The construction appears to be very adequate. The locking mechanism works flawlessly, There is no issue with opening, shutting or locking. Stacking papers and documents is what I expected as this is not an overly large unit but I did not want one larger. The weight is very manageable. The specs on this unit was a driving force for having a fire rating of one hour as well as been water tight. I also place documents inside of sealed plastic bags as a double layer of protection against moisture. I highly recommend.
