Mexican Season Blend OK
Keri Teach•October 17, 2015
I just received an order of The Spice Hunter Salt Free Mexican Seasoning Blend and discovered that this is not the product that I originally bought when I placed my first order. I purchase the seasoning to make taco's. This Mexican blend is different from the 100% Organic Blend and is not suitable for making taco's. It's confusing that this company should make two types of Mexican Seasoning blends. The 100% Organic Blend is perfect for taco's. The non organic blend has a different combination of spices. It has jalapeno in it and to my surprise the browned hamburger for the taco meat did not pick up the heat of the jalapeno seasoning nor the cumin in the blend. The meat wound up tasting bland and I had to add chili powder, cumin, and cayenne pepper. Even though it started to smell like the meat was starting to get spicy like taco meat it still didn't work that well. I think this Mexican blend is more of a meat rub and maybe is not meant to use to season taco meat. I have placed another order for the 100% Organic Mexican Blend which is what I really wanted. I was a bit disappointed but will try using this blend on something else and see what happens.
Having this blend is perfect, as I used to have to haul out ...

Having this blend is perfect, as I used to have to haul out 7 or 8 jars of my dried/ freeze dried spices just so I could make my own mix. This is better! For me, where ever salt is used, that's all I'm able to taste. Go salt free for a while, and you'll know what I mean! Am going to try more salt free in this line. Great for pantry stock. Trader Joe's 21 Spice Salute and Ichimi Togarashi also have a prominent home in my pantry. I LIKE SPICY!
