My Samsung refrigerator (Model #RS22HDHPNBC) originally came with the DA29-00003F filter but after reading reviews on Amazon I purchased this DA29-00003G filter as my first replacement after 6 months since it is supposed to filter the water better. The new G filter was the same size as the F filter but the "teeth" that hold it in place were shaped slightly different (the G filter teeth have sharp angles whereas the F filter had smooth curves). Despite the difference in the "teeth", the G filter installed easily with no water leak inside the refrigerator. I dispensed water and there was a lot of air in the line that caused splashing (I probably should have tried to fill the filter with water from the tap before I installed it to limit the amount of air), but the air dissipated after the 4th or 5th glass was filled. I only gave the filter 4 stars because the dispenser has been dripping since the replacement, it didn't drip before. Someone else also noted a drip in their review that resolved over time, so I'm hoping mine will also. I will post a follow-up if I remember to update on the drip and any difference in water taste (we had reverse osmosis water before, so we are very sensitive to abnormal taste in our water). Also, I noticed on the box that the original F filter was good for 500 gallons whereas the new G filter says it's only good for 300. The original F filter lasted almost exactly 6 months before the water started tasting bad, so I'll be interested to see if the G filter lasts as long since it's not rated for as many gallons. Considering how much more expensive this filter is compared to the generic replacement F filters, I will be disappointed if I don't get 6 months out of each of them.

I've had my Samsung refrigerator for 8 years and have used this same filter every time. Before I ordered this time, I looked at the reviews and was puzzled that so many people said it had changed and didn't fit. I ordered it anyway. They were correct, I removed the old one and tried to install the new. It wouldn't turn. I had looked at the ridges, but straight on, and didn't think they looked different. I returned it to Amazon and took my old one down to Loews (where I bought my fridge) to have them find me the correct one.
The guy said, "Samsung only makes one, this is it". I took the one from Lowes home, tried to install, same problem. SO, This time, I closely examined the ridges next to the old one, and noticed the way the right side on the ridge cuts off at an angle on the bottom on the old one and didn't on the new one. I pulled out a knife and began shaving until it would insert and twist. JEEZ! $50. for a filter I have to modify to work! Thanks for your post @Gary Edwards!

Samsung Model RFG298AARS Refrigerator - We have had this frig since 2009 and have replaced the filter multiple times with no issues. Simply put - This filter does not work.

I've read all the reviews, tips and tricks. After initially trying TONS of force and completely failing to be able to install it, I tried the tip about shaving the tooth down. I can now install the filter easily, just as before. However, no water cycles through the filter. I am used to hearing it fill after insertion and that doesn't happen. I run water through the system using the door spigot and then check the filter. Bone dry it remains.

Unfortunately I bought this pre-emptively and now it has been too long to return it. I am out the $.

Be careful when you order. Ordered the same exact product I have ordered from Amazon but this one does not fit. It has different design on top and will not lock into my refrigerator. I even used the check system Amazon has and entered my model number RF266AERS and it indicated that this was the one for my refrigerator. I think Samsung is playing with model numbers but Amazon needs to reach out to Samsung and make sure the filter is truly the one for the refrigerator indicated.

Despite the identical packaging/model/number as the previous 2 years of filters I ordered, as well as being the actual OEM Samsung replacement part, none of the filters in this 3 pack would actually fit my refrigerator. The bayonet mount will not engage far enough to spin the filter to the locked position. Side-by-side, the new filters appeared physically identical to the old one.

So, that's $75 wasted, since, of course, you can't really use 18 months of filters within the 30 day return window that Amazon offers. But, hey, that's OK - the knock-off filters are much cheaper and apparently just as likely to work as Samsung's own parts...
