This is a great dog door. We installed this one when we moved into the house in 2006 and replaced the flap three times. It's easy and not that big of a deal to take the whole thing apart to clean it. We actually turned it around so that the "front" faces the outside and it has helped with the loud bang of the flap. We have pergo flooring and it was resonating. It's been reliable at keeping bugs and weather out, and I highly recommend it. At one point we even duct-taped the flaps for a couple of years because the segments were separating and it held up well that way too.

Original flap lasted about a year and a half. This has been great for our 4 dogs of all sizes. No complaints. Keep an eye on the seals between slats, we noticed this weekend that ours were worn and ordered this door as a precaution, not realizing the original would only last a few more days.

UPDATE: after only a few weeks the sweep on the bottom of the door has fallen out twice. The second time our puppy chewed it up. This is not a piece that you can have replaced according to ideal pet. They recommended I purchase an entire new flap. Needless to say, I will be checking hardware stores for a replacement of the small rubber sweep that never fell out or came loose from the previous door. No pleased with the customer service.

I bought the expensive patio containing this flap well over 5 years ago. Worked fine and then the rubber between the flaps gave out. So I bought a replacement flap-it lasted exactly one year. The rubber between the plastic flaps fell apart after 1 year. I called the company and was told that there was nothing I could do but now buy a replacement flap and that they were only guaranteed for a year. Called again after replacing the flap to complain and was told that I could purchase just the rubber part, which I did and which does not work. Called again and was told that they now had new material between the flaps but I could not return the replacement door I had just bought. This redefines poor quality and horrible customer service. So if you purchase this product be aware it will last a year. Your money would be better spent replacing the door and not bothering with just replacing the flap.

I bought this to replace the doggie door in my screen door i bought from home depot years ago. My old one was a casualty of the dogs again...the rubber hinge tore this time...plastic had been previously glued/packing taped and thru-drilled to replace stripped screw/hole. I've also had to disassemble it several times to put the hinges back into the panels.

All of that is hopefully fixed by the improved design, which they added screws across the panel for rubber hinge retention...so if the hinge hadn't pulled out, the plastic never would have cracked...and with twice ss many screws, the load per screw is half...no stripped screw...

Replacement would have taken less than a minute if I hadn't dropped the plastic retention bushing for the hinge pin...that added a good 10 seconds to the job. Remove the top 4 frame screws...only loosen the bottom 2...split the top of the frame apart, pull on both flat tabbed plastic bushings, drop busted door, shove pin in new door, reinstall bushing, tighten screws.

Plus, i didn't need to wait a week and a half for home depot to ship it to the store for pickup (for the same price)...Amazon Prime is awesome.

I bought a full size door with a pet door pre-installed from Home Depot 2 1/2 years ago for over $500. After 2 years the rubber that connects the panels decayed and broke apart, even though they never get direct sunlight. Home Depot could not offer me a replacement to the pet door and were of no help trying to find me one. For 6 months the door panels were connected using duct tape. Not pretty.
Then it occurred to me to look for it on Amazon. I put in the dimension and up it came. Just the flap, not the full door, which is what I needed. Thank you Amazon for helping me when Home Depot couldn't. Hopefully these panels will stay together longer than 2 years.
