UGH, not worth the effort!

Purchased for my son to record & post game tricks from his xbox 360. After 2 weeks, $50 in additional cables & pc tweaks he STILL cannot replicate what he can do by placing his iPhone in front of the screen & pressing record!
Using this product you can record the game & it's audio along with your friends chat audio but NOT your voice / narrative while in game play. That has to be recorded separately onto your PC using an external mic & audio software then synced up to the game captured file. Way to complicated for Dad or 13 year old to figure out & a LOUSY Christmas Present experience all round!

The capture card its self works just fine. the problem is the software that comes with it. This wouldn't be as much of an annoyance if you weren't required to install the disk. first of all if you don't have a CD drive, then your out of luck because there is no downloadable version of the software, and you need to install the disk or else the capture card will not work. But the problems don't stop there. the software that this thing comes with is pretty bad. unless you have a powerful computer, it will be almost impossible to use do to how slow the program is, and how it records your footage. if you decide to buy this, I would recommend finding some different software to use with it. if you can do that, then its well worth the money.
Useable, but save yourself a headache and buy an Elgato HD.

I really don't recommend this, but it is usable. It does seem that you need to install a bunch of codecs that it doesn't mention in the documentation: in particular, the DIVX codec pack and K-Lite. But there is a much easier way: just buy an Elgato HD! You'll be glad you did! It is 2 to 3 times more expensive (depending on if you can get it on sale or with a discount, like I did), but 1000x better. I screwed around with the Roxio for days, and even when I got it working with my PS3, it still had sound issues and couldn't capture PS2 properly (it was extremely glitchy, which may have had something to do with the frame rate and resolution that it was trying to capture at, which can't be set in the Roxio Game Cap software...using Open Broadcaster and playing with some settings made it better, but it was still bad). It took me 10 minutes to get the Elgato up and running, and it captures everything perfectly, in the highest quality. This is one case where you will definitely get what you pay for.

I paid $66 on Amazon and very satisfied with this item. My XBOX 360 already came with component, so I didn't have to buy extra cables. The whole cable hook ups took about 10 minutes. Make sure your XBOX 360 video is set up for 1080i instead of 1080p. I was able to capture Borderlands 2 for XBOX 360 to my laptop (Windows 7), and uploaded to YouTube. The video editing that came with the package is far better than Windows Movie Maker. I can't ask for better video capture program. The only thing that annoys me is waiting for the videos to be fully uploaded to YouTube. Other than that, this GameCap is perfect.

I got this handy little device as a means to record PS3 gameplay and i can HONESTLY say that this device has EXCEEDED my expectations. not only does it record in HD-like quality, when i record and it shows up on my pc it looks better than it does on my TV and i have a 1080i TV. Roxio deserves a medal for this AMAZING value for only 60 bucks. Here are some of it's features:

I cannot stress how pleased i am with this handy device and i promise you will be too
Tip: if you are having audio or video lag issues i suggest closing all applications except Roxio game capture when recording it worked for me and it will work for you although no device is perfect it may still lag 10% of the time but hey the ends more than justifies the means.
