I ordered this after returning the Schrade SCHF48. I have only had the OKC a few weeks but I love it. I don't usually write reviews but the Schrade was such a disappointment that I felt compelled. On of the complaints I have seen concerning the OKC is the sheath. The sheath is every thing I would like. It protects the blade, is convenient to carry, and does not interfere with work using the knife. Maybe I just gat a bad blade from Schrade, I understand a previous reviewer had the same issue with an Ontario Blade, but of the two I experienced, The Schrade looked good but the OKC worked. My tools work hard. I have worn out three shovels with out breaking a handle. I have worn out two axes. This blade will earn its price. It my level of satisfaction changes I will let you know.
American Quality.

American made, and seems well built, this is the sort of item that takes many years to fully evaluate but from appearances I don't expect to be disappointed. Great handle too. Some complain about the sheath being cheap, and yes it's a bit cheap. But it works, and for the price and quality of the knife one can't honestly expect an expensive sheath to be included. A custom one can be made, or you can even make your own to suit your needs. Or you can just use the one it comes with, it does the job.
This is a professional-grade tool, built to last a long, long time. It's a good investment in a kukri-style knife.

You can buy kukri-style blades for half the price of this one, and maybe be satisfied. But if you want a kukri that will probably last a lifetime, well, this one is for you. A heavy-duty, no nonsense tool. The Ontario handle is sort of squarish shape, maybe a little on the large size for some, but it has a good surface to grip and hooks front and rear to help keep the hand in place. Of course, it is full-tang and the 1095 steel is a good choice in a lower to medium price range. Sharpens up easily, too. I've seen comments here and there pertaining to a perceived difficulty in sharpening an edge shaped like a kukri. You're looking at some serious curves, after all. Okay, I have been sharpening knives, machetes, etc. for years and I finally found a system that works very well on almost every knife (in my experience, the exceptions to this rule are so few that they aren't worth worrying about). Take my advice, and for 7 or 8 dollars apiece, get an AccuSharp and a Rada sharpener. They will do the job individually, but I have learned that they work much better when used in tandem--the AccuSharp to set the edge and the Rada to hone it to a beautiful keen edge. Now don't get all nervous about any slight change to the factory edge. Who cares, when the end result is what you want, and will get? That's my advice--take it or leave it. By the way, the sheath is the typical heavy fabric, but is well-made and sturdy,
... cutting shooting lanes for deer hunting it was the best thing that I have used yet

I used this kukri for cutting shooting lanes for deer hunting it was the best thing that I have used yet. the blade is holding a good edge and has only one very small nick in the blade even though I have put it through a lot of abuse with a lot of ground contact and I have hit barbed wire and a bunch of small rocks and stones. It slices thru small saplings with ease up to about two inches with one swipe with the right angle. I cleared twice as much brush in about a quarter of the time. I would recommend this to anyone and I believe it is the best kurkri for the money I read a lot of reviews before I bought it and everyone had great things to say except for the sheath was sub par, they may have changed the sheath because my sheath is fine its a heavy material that in my opinion is more than enough protection. So It's my opinion this product will not disappoint
Damn-good knife and high value tool!

I picked this up from Amazon back in 2012 and four years later it is still going strong. It's been used hiking and camping many times in the Mojave desert and the Colorado Rockies. Definitely a dependable large blade to keep in the truck. Chops quite well and has yet to get any cracks or bends in the blade. Easy to sharpen and just in general, a damn-good tool.
Due to the high carbon steel this will rust if not taken care of. The black coating is quite tough and does a great job of protecting the blade. For those who love to baton every time you prep firewood, this might not be the knife for you since the coating and flat grind will cause added friction, but it will get the job done. Also, this is not the best splitter, instead use an axe or hatchet designed for splitting. The sheath sucks if used often, investing in a kydex sheath is highly suggested. What you get for the money this is value. Doesn't have the best finish but this is a dependable blade and the handle feels great with extended use.
