It works well enough, with a minor adjustment.

My sister has ALS and dementia, and this seat lift has been very helpful! I wish it wasn't so heavy, because I have the carry it wherever we go.
I ended up setting at the next higher pounds setting than she really needs, but the lower setting didn't help her getting up. Now, when she sits on it, I have to push down on it to add "weight" for it to go down. But then it really does help her when she tries to get up!
Also, I wish it was silent. As it is, it squeaks, which makes her giggle (thanks, dementia!), and that isn't exactly appropriate at church, for example.
Still, I'm glad we have it.

Important to adjust it correctly

My wife can now get out of her wheelchair now.
not suitable for a wheelchair
gerry✓ Verified Purchase•August 8, 2023
The seat does not work well when placed in a wheelchair. The seat catches on the backrest and will not lift.
The seat works best on a flat firm chair. Also the amount of lift assist was not sufficient to help my wife who has difficulty standing.

Good idea but....

The product is heavier than expected, the seat cushion is VERY hard and I received it broken so I could not get it to work properly to review the function but by looking at it, the idea seems great but you also need good upper body strength to help assist the lift. Then once you're up so far, your hands won't reach the arms of the chair and the lift will not continue to raise you from that position. It's a hydraulic bar that lifts the seat. I checked the return policy before I purchased and it said non-refundable unless defective or damaged so I knew I took a 50-50 chance. However when I tried to return it as damaged they still would NOT ALLOW THE REFUND.
I ended up calling Amazon customer service to explain the issue and she immediately honored the refund. I was very pleased with the whole thing.
So be cautious in ordering this. If the person is under 150 lbs, I'd say it definitely might help get up but it seems tricky to get it to work properly.

A Very Helpful Assist Seat

The Uplift Seat Assist works well in aiding one to rise from a chair. I would recommend it to someone with leg weakness, but still having some leg and arm strength to help raise and lower from and into the seat. In my opinion it is worth the expense, although there seems to be significant price variance from seller to seller on Amazon. While it is firm to sit on, I have not found it to be uncomfortable for at least 2 hours without rising. Please note that I have the Uplift Seat Assist (MED-UL100) which has a memory foam cushion. It costs somewhat more than the otherwise identical Upeasy Seat Assist that has a polyurethane cushion. I am unsure how the polyurethane would feel. The Up-lift.com website has a good explanation of both seats and how to use them. I would recommend initially setting the weight on the seat to lower than your actual weight, as, in my case, this is sufficient. I weigh 200 pounds, and have found the 160 pound setting to be sufficient. The next setting up is 190 pounds and there is also a setting at 220 pounds on the standard model. Setting the seat is likely to be difficult if you are somewhat frail. I am not strong, but by using my weight to press down on the seat when setting it, I am able to do so. Be aware the seat is 9 pounds in weight so carrying it around may not be especially convenient. A large, sturdy tote is useful. I found the Large Boat and Tote bag at L.L. Bean to be an appropriate sized, sturdy bag that can be used to help make the Uplift seat more portable.
