There were two minor imperfections. A screw was used for a piece of hardware for the legs that was too long and a small hole appeared in the seat of the bench after the screw was replaced with a smaller hole.
Also the was a small nick on one of the corners. My granddaughter who I gave it to for Christmas did not make any remarks about it and was eager to use it. So I did not return it. I was disappointed about the imperfection since are was assured that the bench was checked before shipment.

The bench from my wife's baby grand fell apart after about 40 years of use. This bench looks good, came in walnut to match the piano, and is just what she wanted. One odd thing - it did not come with assembly instructions or assembly tool.

It is very sturdy and easy to put together. My only reason for the 4 stars is because the top is more reddish than I wanted. The legs were exactly the right color to match my piano. I turned the seat over and filled the holes and restained them and it is fine. Otherwise the top was too red.

Should have read the description more closely. This bench has a really, really high gloss finish. We wanted it for our hall, to sit on while putting on shoes, but it doesn't match our other furniture. Not sure we'll keep it. It was very easy to put together - just bolt the 4 legs on - and it does appear to be sturdy. The seat lid hinges have a soft close feature so it won't crash on your fingers. The finish is an attractive walnut color. It came in perfect condition.
