Improved product construction and sturdier materials in newest model!

This is my third purchase of an Omega-Paw Self-Cleaning Litter Box. I love them, they are amazing, so I keep buying them. Obviously "self-cleaning" is a bit of a deceptive name, but you won't find a better non-motorized box out there.

I have a 15lb cat, and she uses the Large size. It's a bit tight for her, and she usually sticks her front half out of the box while using it, as well as pushing the litter drawer out a few inches to make more space for herself. The Regular size would be way too small for her.

The first box (light green color) did eventually break along the "fold line" of the internal litter divider. No biggie, it had given me 5+ years of solid service, so I purchased another, exactly the same. This one is still going strong, although I have managed to cause white "dent marks" to appear on the lid from pressure.

I just received my third litter box. I really wanted the "pewter" color this time, rather than the light green. I was REALLY pleasantly surprised to discover that they have improved many aspects of the construction in just the last few years my last purchase of one (since 2014), so please consider this review as opposed to reviews older than that date. (As well, you may get different models from different sellers, and it seems that all the reviews may get lumped together equally regardless of who you purchase from. I received the "newer" model from Omega Paw Self-Cleaning Litter Box, Pewter specifically)

Additionally, it should be noted that my preferred litter is "World's Best Cat Litter", and I find it works very well with this box, in additional to being flushable.

One of the main issues that people have complained about has been the sliding "latches" that keep the two halves together. Instead of sliding latches, the design now has "clasps" that you snap down in place. They are fairly large, and VERY snug (it was a bit of a wrestle to get them clicked into place, actually), so this should alleviate any issues of them two halves of the box coming apart when rolled over (yes, this has happened to me as well, but I always found it to be user error in my case.)

The plastic for the entire box is clearly a denser, sturdier material than previously. Although, I would not have called it flimsy, as some have, it did take the aforementioned dents on top. It no longer has a "paw print" pattern over the top of the box, but instead a sunken section that seems intended to reinforce the strength when rolled. The waste-scoop is likewise of a sturdier plastic; my previous scoops have had mild bows inward on both sides. This scoop is clearly of sturdier material, not bowed, and they have added an ridged thumb tab of a separate, inserted piece of plastic, to the handle.

Internally, the "tabs" on the floor of the box have been made larger, and rounded, and seem more likely to keep the "vent" section of the internal divider from popping out (which happens occasionally when I disassemble for a thorough cleaning, and have not yet sealed the lid back on. I then have to move the litter out of the way to find the tabs again.)

A very small detail, but they added an iridescent logo above the box entrance, as opposed to the raised plastic letters and logo that had previously been there.

In all, the company has clearly taken feedback and made specific improvements based upon that. So, what I always found to be a great product (and recommend to everyone), is better than ever! I've included a picture of the product description that came with it, as you can see most of the improvements in this image (including where they point to the new clip design).
"Self Cleaning" meaning you will end up doing just as much cleaning.

I must admit when I 1st got this product i was extremely impressed. I didn't have to scoop cat poop/pee anymore!!! As the weeks went by though I began to notice flies in my home. I would kill ALL of them one by one only to wake up the next day and find they had tripled! I couldn't figure out where they were coming from. Once the flies were out of control. (Like 20 flies a DAY) I said thats it..I'm taking this thing a part to make sure theres not something I'm missing. Sure enough when I took it apart the container section that is meant to filter the clean cat litter had been piling up only to become the breeding ground for the flies. When you roll this box to the side the clumped cat little is filtered into the handle and you can dispose of it, genius, really. But the flaw is that the small pieces of wet cat litter stick to the inside, get stuck and unknowing become a block of cat urine cement 😅 I still like this box but at the end of week you will need to take it apart, hose it down and put it back together. The intention of the box is to make cleaning more simple but to be honest now I just scoop it out like i've done with all boxes in the past.
GREAT IDEA but needs some work

I have four cats and have had the litter box for 3 weeks. This litter box design is fantastic, and it works pretty well, after a few modifications.

The little plastic clamps that are supposed to hold the top and bottom together while you roll it over are extremely weak and come open easily, then dirty litter pours out everywhere. To fix that I put duct tape all around the litter box, which holds it together nicely, but makes adding fresh litter a hassle.

The grate inside the litter box that 'strains' the good litter from the bad will pop out of the too-small plastic grooves on the bottom of the litter box. Then litter gets into the grooves and the grate won't go back, and then the whole design fails and you have to un-duct tape, dump all the litter and start over. I haven't found a good work around for that yet.

It needs a door flap - the cats are shoveling litter out the door when they try to cover 'stuff' up. Definitely get a litter mat.

That said, my cats prefer this litter box to either of the other two (a standard domed box with door flap and a top-entry box). They have almost quit using the other two litter boxes completely. It is really easy to clean (when it works).

When this litter box works it is AMAZING. I would pay $80 for this if it was more durable, had a door and stayed clamped together.

So far so good! Tested it in one day worth of poop and it did the job. Loved how easy it was!

Update! I purchased 4 boxes. I tested the first one I got and realized that they are some flaws on the design of the box but it requires an easy fix.

1. The filter part that goes inside. Can easily pop open if there is too much litter. It opens because of the weight of the sand itself.
Solution: tape it all around the box to secure it and use strong duct tape. It takes a few minutes.

2. The lashes to close the top and bottom cover are not the best lashes ever and I can see that with time they will break or become looser if you open and close to much.
Solution: dont open the box unless it is super necesary.
How to fill more litter if you dont open cover?
Solution: use your drawer as a litter "measurement cup" pour litter into the empty drawer and with the drawer pour litter inside the box to refill. Done!

Also, I clean all litters at once twice or once a day when I feed all my cats. Important not to let the pooper dirty for more than a day. The drawer van all fit so much waste.

Benefits of the box:

Less cleaning time (about 5 minutes for all 4 boxes)
Saving on litter sand itself. You only need to refill every two days
Less smell.
No meed to use the scooping thingy anymore.
Cats are happy that litter is always clean.
... I will have to say this one os the best and easiest to clean and maintain

I bought allot of different litter boxes and I will have to say this one os the best and easiest to clean and maintain.I also bought the larger Omega Paw one prior to buy this Pewter Box. This Pewter unit is even better because it;s lighter and easier to roll over and clean then the bigger on. I have 4 cats and they use the pewter size as often as the larger one. Cleanup is a breeze and highly recommend this style cat litter box to everyone.
