I give it 2 stars because it looks good and is otherwise well made. However, if you are looking for a RELIABLE quick access gun cabinet then you should consider going with one with push buttons on it or just get one that opens with a key. I would hate to trust my life to the finger scanner that they use with this box. It opens about 50% of the time when I use either of my index fingers (I programmed the scanner for both/either of them). However it opens 100% of the time with the key so I just removed the cover name plate and keep the key near by just in case. Maybe some day they will perfect the bio-metric technology so you can trust a gun safe to open when you really need it. In the mean time, I suggest you go old school. Overall I'm very disappointed with this gun cabinet.

Small case, has room for my Savage .22LR, the small area at the top of the case is a bit too small for my 626 plus. But over all I enjoy the quality of the case to keep small children out. The finger print scanner works great. I would take off one star because the scanner was disconnected from the battery pack when I received the unit. A small trouble, but overall I am happy with the units.

Material is thin, but I would not call it flimsy.
Scanning is not too slow, it takes about an 'one allergator' to recognized my finger.

I will start by saying, I did like my safe as it's was the perfect size I need to safely story my rifle. BUT, I am very disappointed with the quality build and customer service I have received with my Barska product. The rifle safe was purchased back on 12/5/15 at which time everything seemed fine. Since then, I've only opened the safe about 5 times total. On the 5th time (2/4/17) I opened the safe, the door completely separated from the safe. Upon further inspection, the welds on the hinge completely broken off. The hinge was only held in place by 2 small tack weld (really?). At this point I am 2 months out from the 1 year warranty, but seeing that this a Major Defect, I attempted to contact Barska (who takes pride in committed to delivering a superior quality product) in hopes they would try to make it right and keep a satisfied customer. I was wrong, even after customer service admitting to me that this was a major defect, they still refused to honor the warranty. I can definitely say, I will no longer be purchasing future Barska products based on my experience.

08/31/17 UPDATE: Picked up my Mossberg 590 7-shot today. I can barely squeeze it in next to my AR15. Took the middle shelf out to make it easier to access them. It's too small - definitely will be looking at a larger safe. Have to put them in sideways to fit.

12/29/16: Preferred a CA DOJ approved safe for my MSR that didn't cost too much. Well, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. This definitely will not hold 4 long guns at least in my case when my AR has an A2 post and a Red/Green Dot Sight. If I took the optics off and if my rifle didn't have an A2 post, then it would be a tight fit. I'm hoping I can squeeze a shotgun (w/o pistol grip) in, but I will need to take the sight off my AR to add room.

To make the most of the space inside this safe, I added an additional shelf for a total of two shelves. I think each one is big enough for a small handgun, some mags or a couple boxes of ammo.

The biometric sensor isn't as accurate as my other two Barska safes. Opens on the 2nd or 3rd try whereas my other ones unlock on the 1st attempt. For this one, I used the provided batteries; the others I used Energizer batteries. Going to swap them to see if there's a difference.

Pretty nice safe. The Biometrics works really good. I put my thumb print in 4 time different placement on meter. then did the other hand 4 times.
but wife finger print in too. Tested every day and it all ways works great.
Came with a back-up battery pack if battery dies just plug in. Plus keys if that if both battery don't work. The door as 4 large pins top bottom and side so if some one was trying to bend it there still not getting in.
For the price this is a excellent safe. But Not Fire Proof
Just as good as my $600 safe that does not hold rifles. which as electric push button combo. I like the biometric better cause it works and its fast.
Holds 3-4 rifles pending type of rifle. Shelve is good for ammo really small area. I put a pistol rack in for 3 pistols on the inside the door. works great
I will put a battery motion light in.

I might get another one for the RV
